00:00Do you think it's a pretty positive way to start the season?
00:04Yeah, look, really proud of the players.
00:10We obviously had a tough away European fixture on Thursday night.
00:16We had 10 first-team players unavailable for a number of reasons today.
00:20So out of a squad of 25, we do the sums.
00:24And we asked a lot of them to, again, go out there
00:27and sort of dig into their wells of energy.
00:31And a couple we put out there who haven't played for ages,
00:35haven't started games.
00:37So the fact that the boys could play with such energy and quality
00:40is just outstanding.
00:43I'm really pleased that they get the rewards for it
00:47because they deserve it.
00:49Three full-time NBA players tonight, Lucas and Jay,
00:53what do you make of that?
00:54Yeah, they were great.
00:56Lucas is growing all the time, but he's 18.
01:00Archie's 18.
01:02How many Premier League clubs are going to start with two 18-year-olds
01:04in their starting line-up?
01:06And Jed's had to bide his time.
01:08To be fair, it's one area of the pitch where we've had cover this year
01:11with Archie playing right back, so he's had to be patient.
01:14But it's a testament to him and the coaches who kept working with him
01:19at training that he could come on today.
01:22We needed him, for sure, not just to play, but to make an impact.
01:25And he did.
01:27Again, a great reward for his patience and perseverance.
01:32And you said on Friday you wanted the senior players to stand up.
01:36At least Sonny and Madison produced that.
01:39Yeah, they were brilliant.
01:40I think they sensed that they needed to tonight.
01:44As I said, we're just spread so thin that we're asking young players
01:50and players who haven't played a lot and others who are playing all the time
01:54to go out there and still try and play to our identity,
01:59still try and play the football we want to.
02:01I thought they were both a catalyst for that tonight with both their football
02:06but also their mindset of just going out there.
02:10We had to start strong today.
02:13We kind of knew we'd probably run out of gas at the end of the game
02:18considering the line-up we had out there and, as I said,
02:21coming off Europe on Thursday night.
02:23I think the players sensed that and credit to them
02:26that they started the game that way.
02:37Yeah, look, again, I'm trying to separate me and my feelings
02:43from what we're trying to do here.
02:47They're obviously, like I said after the Bournemouth game,
02:50the ones who travel are obviously very hardcore.
02:53They support this club and they were disappointed with that
02:57but they made the trip tonight and I think they would have enjoyed,
03:02particularly in the first 45.
03:03They didn't get to see many goals close up in the second half, unfortunately.
03:08Look, I said on Friday, nothing's changed in me.
03:12I still have the same resolve and determination to make sure
03:18that we become the football club and football team we want to be.
03:23But tonight was about the players, really.
03:25I just thought their efforts were unbelievable.
03:29Yeah, we'll see how he is.
03:30He felt a bit tight and, to be fair, he wanted to continue
03:33but we just can't take any risks at the moment
03:36so we kind of took him off, say it was sunny.
03:39So hopefully, I don't think it's anything significant at this stage
03:42so more precautionary.
03:45OK, thank you.
03:46Thanks a lot.
