BOASTING a twin-turbo engine with more than 900hp – ‘Filthy’ is the world’s first full custom-road registered burnout truck. Owner Michael Lake, from ‘Truckin Stainless’ in Brisbane, Australia, spent seven years working days and nights in his shed to perfect his latest burnout model. A ‘burnout’ is the practice of keeping a vehicle stationary whilst spinning its wheels, causing the tyres to heat up and smoke due to friction. Michael, 42, built ‘Filthy’ specifically for the entertainment of burning out to crowds across Australia, but he also made sure to produce a vehicle that was practical and street-legal for his own pleasure.

00:00I own trucks, live trucks, breathe trucks, and I've spent my whole life so far.
00:06This is filthy, a burnt out truck, heaps of smoke.
00:10Yep, Michael Lake, owner of Truckin' Stainless here in Brisbane, Australia, this is my truck
00:33that I've built for burnouts.
00:40It's got a 28 litre Cummins, that's a white 4000, 75 model, it's got twin turbos, all
00:56custom made.
00:58Passion for trucks has been since I was a young boy, I was a truck driver most of my
01:04life.
01:05I just had enough of it, wanted to get out of it, try something different, so we started
01:11at home, built it up from home, gone from there.
01:15I drew pictures of it when I first started building it and just sort of went from there.
01:20It's pretty much what it looks like on the picture, it's one of a kind.
01:28Started with a set of diffs, started with a set of diffs, put the motor and box in place,
01:43string lined it on my concrete and we started building the truck from there.
01:47Yeah, it's all pretty much all custom.
01:50The build's taken seven years, we go from starting with a cab that was rusted out to
01:56putting it all together.
01:59Just every night pretty much, yeah, after I'd finish work I'd just go out there and
02:02just start work on that until I had enough and then go back up inside and then get up
02:07and do it all over again.
02:08It's a bit of an old school look, we've got a lift up bumper, it all tilts out, lifts
02:14up so I can get over speed bumps and what not.
02:17It's a custom grill, we've manufactured and all done here in house.
02:23You see these gauges, they've all got our own custom truck and stainless logo in them.
02:27That's a pretty cool little feature we've got, it looks pretty good at night too, it'll
02:32all light up.
02:33Up here we've got our front brakes, so we'll hold them down to do a burn out and we'll
02:39hold them down until we're done.
02:41The hardest part would be to, I was originally marrying the box and the motor up, other than
02:56that, yeah we just worked on it until we got it, until we worked it out.
03:00A bit of a feature would be, I reckon would be the grill, I definitely like the front
03:04look of it, it's definitely in your face.
03:07A custom steering wheel here with a quick release, I've got the Transformer logo over
03:12here because everyone reckons it's a bit of a bumblebee.
03:15The whole building process probably, I wouldn't have put a price to it, but yeah probably
03:2050,000.
03:23The engine is a V12 1710 Cummins, 28 litre, it's rated at 900 horsepower and 4000 foot
03:30pound of torque, they can go to like 2300 horsepower or 4 turbos, that's really cracking.
03:37Nah, I don't think I'd ever sell it, it's just part of the family now.
03:41My friends are a bit jealous of it, or filthy, but it's all good.
03:46I get to take them for a run around the block and they soon change their mind.
03:49This truck is outstanding, like I really think it's beyond words, it's the best truck in
03:56Australia out there, in Australia for sure.
03:58Yeah, I'm proud of the truck we've built, all the work we've done to it, all the customisation,
04:05one of a kind kind of a truck, it's definitely different, definitely proud of it.
