00:00The Department of Tourism has prepared a livelihood assistance for those affected by the eruption of Vulcan Canlaon in the tourism sector.
00:07This was reported by Rod Lagusan.
00:12Following the eruption of Vulcan Canlaon in Negros,
00:15the Department of Tourism has prepared a livelihood assistance for those affected by the eruption of Vulcan Canlaon in the tourism sector.
00:20Because of the current situation, the operation of tourism-related activities will not be able to return.
00:27The Department of Tourism is here to provide interventions that will make up of alternative livelihood trainings
00:37for those tourism stakeholders that would temporarily not be able to exercise their regular functions in the destinations.
00:47And so we will try to divert that by providing livelihood alternatives to them.
00:54They have already done this in other places, such as Oriental Mindoro and Davao.
00:59First, they are already suspending the operation of tourist activities in the affected local governments
01:05in La Castellana, La Carlota City, Bago City and Murcia in Negros Occidental, and Canlaon City in Negros Oriental.
01:13As for those who are no longer allowed trekking, swimming, farm site visits, and day tours,
01:18they are also temporarily suspending the operation of some tourist sites near or within the 6-kilometer danger zone.
01:25The Department of Social Welfare and Development has a partnership to distribute financial assistance to affected tourism stakeholders.
01:33In addition, they also have a partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment under the TUPAD program.
01:39Right now, I think the immediate need is, of course, for the assistance, recovery, operations of our national government agencies.
01:52And certainly, we are here to assist our tourism frontliners, our tourism stakeholders, and we continue to express our full support for the affected.
02:07In addition, the Department of Social Welfare and Development warns that tourists should avoid the current 6-kilometer danger zone and areas affected by the ash fall.
02:15DOT also reminds tourists to stay updated on the information released by the authorities on the condition of the volcano and nearby areas.
