00:00All right. Let's talk about passer rating. Let's talk about the QBs here's usual suspects
00:07at the top of the board. Tip one. One of these guys also, you know, who is not what you were
00:15expecting to be at the top of this board. Doesn't have necessarily a home next year.
00:21It's Sam Darnold. So Lamar Jackson at the top at one 16.3 best passer rating so far
00:26of 2024. Behind him, Jared Goff at 109.1 and Sam Darnold right behind at 108.1. Then
00:35Joe Burrow at 107.9. Now we've talked about how great and prolific Joe Burrow has been
00:39for fantasy this year. People talk about Jared Goff not getting enough credit for MVP. Lamar
00:43Jackson, the reigning defending MVP, and then Sam Darnold. Now he's not getting any MVP
00:49love. Probably he shouldn't. But in terms of his performance, with the exception of
00:53a few bad games, which happens to everybody. Sam Darnold deserves a starting job somewhere
01:00next year. You have to start to wonder, are the Minnesota Vikings better off bringing
01:04Sam Darnold back and having McCarthy sit for a full year healthy and work his way back
01:09slowly? I think the answer is yes. Now, whether or not that's going to work out for them from
01:14a cap standpoint, from a money standpoint, that's remains to be seen. And whether or
01:18not they got more competition for the services of Sam Darnold, that also remains to be seen.
01:22Would Sam Darnold be a bridge quarterback for some teams that are looking to, you know,
01:26at some point improve and get better? Sure. But if you're looking next year, it's, I think,
01:31a weaker classic quarterback coming out in the rookies. So maybe you get two starters
01:36out of that group right away. Maybe. But outside of that, you're going to see a lot of Justin
01:42Field, Sam Darnold. A lot of these guys are going to get more opportunities. And Sam Darnold
01:46has earned that opportunity. And if you look at where he is in the passer rating and look
01:50at the numbers and you look at the Vikings win column, it's great to have an offensive
01:54minor head coach. And it also gives you a reminder that it's us. The talent is one thing.
02:00The landing spot is crucial. If you don't end up in a landing spot that is going to
02:05be helpful for quarterback growth, you're going to have the other version of Sam Darnold,
02:09which was the version we saw in the Jets and then bounce around a couple of their spots
02:12and then finally land in Minnesota of all places and end up thrust into a starting role.
02:18And he has been absolutely outstanding and he deserves a little bit more credit for the
02:21Viking success in 2024.
02:23All right, folks, it is now time for FST small sample size theater. It was the best of times.
02:31It was the worst of times. It is indeed a tale of two cities. We're going to look at
02:34two quarterbacks over the last four games, although they are in neighboring states. That's
02:39where the similarities end. Joe, take us through to a tongue of Iowa's last four games and
02:45then Kirk Cousins last four games have at it.
02:48Well, I can assure you, nobody's telling to retire right now after the last four games.
02:53So he has been outstanding.
02:56Absolutely. He has. And that right there is a period on the sentence by Joe Pisa Pia and
03:03you did it for effect. And I like it. Talk about how outstanding to has been 11 touchdowns,
03:10no interceptions for two a tongue of Iowa. That has been an incredible four week run
03:15for him or the best of his career, 1300 passing yards, a 118.5 passer rating, one of the tops
03:22in the league to has been frankly outstanding.
03:25And Tyreek Hill has not been the healthiest version of himself this year. The Dolphins
03:28have been a bit of a struggle. Again, they perform well against bad teams and underperform
03:33against good teams. That's kind of been the Mike McDaniel story since he's come into the
03:37league as their head coach. So he's fun and it's, you know, good feeder for the end of
03:41the day is a good football. I think that's what we have to ask ourselves. But regardless,
03:45now that, you know, two has been playing like this, you don't hear anybody chirping. Oh,
03:48oh, yo, two should be playing football anymore. So maybe two, it does know what he's doing
03:52after all and has a pretty good gauge of his own health and his own wellbeing. And look,
03:57I think all of us have that first and foremost in our minds. But if you're looking at a performance,
04:02this is probably one of the best versions of two what we've seen since probably the
04:05first six weeks of last season. So the fact that he's bounced back, the extent has been
04:09really incredible. Now the flip side of that coin, you want to talk about a guy whose career
04:13is maybe going in the opposite direction. It's Kirk Cousins. Now we can make excuses
04:17that maybe it's the age, maybe it's coming off the injury, maybe it's too many new things
04:22here, whatever it is, it ain't working. So if to a tongue of Iowa had zero interceptions,
04:30Kirk Cousins has zero touchdowns, uh, eight interceptions over the last four weeks, only
04:34a thousand passing yards over those four games, a passer rating 62. It has been brutal for
04:40Kirk Cousins. Maybe drafting Michael Penick so early was not a big mistake. Maybe we're
04:45going to see Penick's at some point when the Falcons, if the Falcons get eliminated from
04:49playoff contention, again, that's going to get dicey, but another bad performance this
04:53week on Monday, maybe you do just throw something to the wall and see if it sticks because you
04:58can't keep going. This quarterback play just frankly has to be better if the Falcons are
05:04going to find their way into the playoffs. And I think the only way they're going to
05:07do that is to win this division.
