00:00106.7 KROQ, it's KROQ, I'm Megan Holliday. We're broadcasting live at Almost Acoustic Christmas
00:09and I am here with Franz Ferdinand. Hello. So tell me, how was the Franz dance party, guys?
00:18I missed it. You missed something spectacular. It was great. The audience were magic, weren't they,
00:23Bob? Yeah, it was brilliant. Yeah, great crowd. Yeah, I loved it. And we were just seeing like
00:26how intense it is when you play a little half-hour set like that. It's, yeah, there's a
00:30lot of energy there. Yeah, because it's like wham-bam, thank you, ma'am. Yes, thank you indeed.
00:33Yeah, so I'm really excited. Well, you were last here in 2017 and I know and so... It's ages. I know
00:41and so now you're back and you've got a brand new album called The Human Fear coming out on January
00:4610th. So this sounds a little bit intense. Yeah. What is going on with this album? Well, I mean,
00:53think about fear. Think about how fear, all the good things that you have to do in life usually
00:58entail overcoming fear in some way. Think of asking somebody out on a date. Yeah. You know,
01:02you've got to overcome the fear of doing the fear of rejection. But whenever you overcome fear,
01:07you always feel good. You feel like your heart beats faster. You feel like you're alive. The
01:11blood runs hot in your veins. So I feel that the album gives you that kind of energy. Oh my gosh,
01:16I love you so much. Thank you for saying that. I love you too. You know, because like that is what
01:21life is all about. Walking through tons of fears and I mean, even with overcoming them and with
01:27what we do, you know, it's like the first time you played a gig. How scared were you? I still am.
01:32Yeah. Do you still get the nerves when you go on air? Oh yeah, absolutely. But doesn't it feel you
01:36get such a good buzz when you do it? And like all the good things in life require you to overcome
01:42fear to get that good buzz to do the good thing. And even when you mess up, it doesn't matter. You
01:47just pick yourself up again. I mean, I messed up the intro talking, but who cares? Mistakes
01:52happen in life. The audacious things to carry on. I love it. Audacious is the single. I love it.
01:59Very bold. And you guys, is there anything that you do to keep your mental health together? What's
02:06the thing you think that that kind of carries you through your life that you can always lean on?
02:11Do you know, I think it's my friends that really keep me together. And I think we're very lucky
02:15being in a band with people who we get on with, people who we trust,
02:18you know, people who you can open up to as well. I think that's, yeah, I like, I like running.
02:24I think, I think exercise on my own listening to a podcast.
02:30That's great. It took me a long time to realize that it's actually fun.
02:36Oh my God, dude, it is. I used to be very anti-physical exercise. I actually go to the
02:41gym now. That's crazy. Yeah. Yeah. Well, you guys just seem to be in the greatest of spirits. Oh,
02:46and before I forget, you're going to be coming back to LA. Yes. 29th of March. You're playing
02:52the Wilton. No, no. April 29th. No, no. March 29th. I got it wrong. Pretty sure it's March.
02:58Oh yeah. It's just after my birthday. You're right. 29th of March, which I like because
03:01that's sooner. And I actually get to see you guys play. We love the Wilton. And you said
03:05you were going to introduce us. Can I? Yeah. Why not? Are you guys serious? I would die.
03:11Oh my God. How would you do it? How would you do it? Well, if I came out, obviously,
03:15because I say this every single time I play Franz Ferdinand, I would say,
03:18it is now time for a Franz Dance Party on K-Rock. Please, that would be amazing. I love it. I love
03:25it. We're going to do that. Oh my God. Yes, please. I love you guys. I'm so excited for
03:29the new album and to see you in March. I'm Megan Holliday. Thank you so much,
03:34Franz Ferdinand. It is the world famous K-Rock.
