00:00So, if there's one thing we all know about comic books, it's that superheroes are almost
00:04always portrayed as beings who help the innocent, slay the evils of the world, and look amazing
00:09while doing so.
00:10And while a good majority of our favourite comic book heroes love the people they protect,
00:15there are also quite a few so-called heroes who actually learn to view humanity as despicable
00:19creatures barely worth the effort.
00:22So let's take a look at them as I'm Jules, this is WhatCulture.com, and these are the
00:2510 Greatest Comic Book Heroes Who Despise Humans.
00:29NUMBER 10.
00:30RAVEN
00:31Raven has gone through many different iterations of her life, even dying and becoming a wandering
00:35spirit after becoming possessed by evil and trying to kill her teammates, the Teen Titans.
00:40Even in her ghost form, Raven held disdain for the humans that often viewed her as a
00:44demon.
00:45Raven's entire internal struggle revolves around her battle against the evil that resides
00:49within her, and the constant feeling of loneliness brought on by the innate mistrust and hatred
00:53humans have of her.
00:55While Raven truly hates her father Trigon above any other being in the universe, humans
01:00come as a close second.
01:02Raven holds little love in her heart for the humans that live outside the Titans' tower.
01:05It's true that Raven loves the few humans on her team, and has been trying to open up
01:09more and more to them about her inner feelings and thoughts, but most of the time the team
01:13has to learn about her feelings from a magical attack that forces their innermost feelings
01:17to be exposed to one another.
01:19NUMBER 9.
01:20DEADPOOL
01:21Deadpool is one of pop culture's greatest icons due to his comedic self-awareness and
01:26complete lack of humanity.
01:27Fans love to praise Wade Wilson for his comedy, his tragedy, and his constant rivalries with
01:32heroes and villains alike from across the Marvel multiverse, but the merc with a mouth
01:36once himself rebelled against his fans in the classic comic event Deadpool Kills the
01:41Marvel Universe.
01:42Deadpool has also killed more people than can possibly be counted, with many being killed
01:46simply because Wade felt like it.
01:48He's also tortured and tormented many of his closest friends and allies, and has ended
01:52up being rejected by his fellow mutants, from humans, and even from death herself.
01:57His hatred of all living things makes Deadpool often become the loneliest immortal being
02:01in the Marvel Universe.
02:03While he mostly kills bad guys in their seemingly endless supply of goons, he's also killed
02:07many innocent people in some pretty messed up ways, whether possessed by another bad
02:11guy because they got in the way of his chaotic battles, or simply because he's completely
02:15unstable and they bothered him at the wrong time.
02:18Deadpool even once encouraged a teen girl to kill herself because he knew that it was
02:22the one thing that he could never truly accomplish, though he has tried many, many times.
02:28Pretty grim, right?
02:298.
02:30Rorschach
02:31While Rorschach may be the loosest definition of a comic book hero, he nonetheless is one
02:36of the few characters in comic history to hold a true and unshakable disdain for humanity.
02:41Both in his actions and in his personal thoughts that are found inside his journals, Rorschach
02:45has shown that he believes without a doubt that the world is truly ugly, and the few
02:50who are actually good people in this world are really just prey for the others to mercilessly
02:54devour.
02:55His outlook on humanity is one of pure hatred, with perhaps children being his only exception.
03:01He believes that everyone is willing to stand by and ignore the filth on the street, and
03:05that everyone is constantly complaining about the things that he views to be meaningless
03:09and unimportant.
03:10This, mixed with his unshakable delusions of standing firm in the face of even Armageddon,
03:15has made him one of pop culture's most engaging characters, but also one who could care less
03:20what the scum of the world, in his eyes, think of him.
03:23Rorschach is also incredibly brutal.
03:25He kills anyone that he thinks is evil without a second thought.
03:28No justice system or jails, no one to judge the wicked, except for him.
03:327.
03:33Namor
03:34As with most kings under the sea, Namor holds a deep mistrust and somewhat obvious hatred
03:39towards humanity.
03:40He's often gone to war with humans on the surface for any reason that he deems to be
03:44worthy of killing, including the Kingdom of Wakanda when he had the powers of the Phoenix
03:48Force.
03:49Namor used that uncontrollable power to drown the capital city of Wakanda, killing millions.
03:54The Sub-Mariner's loyalty to Earth can change seemingly on a dime, and his unpredictability
03:59mixed with his arrogance and superiority complex all make for one of the most unstable heroes
04:04on Earth.
04:05Even when Namor joined the secret superhuman council called the Illuminati, he rarely got
04:09along with any of his other fellow members.
04:11He always proposed the most violent and the most destructive methods of dealing with Earth's
04:15problems.
04:16Namor would gladly drown the entire Earth if he felt that it would be the only way to
04:20save his kingdom.
04:21This arrogance and brutality led to Namor's murder by the hands of King T'Challa during
04:25one of the secret Illuminati missions, a death that many saw coming and few felt bad about,
04:30aside from the unshakable moral characters like Captain America.
04:346. The Spectre
04:36One of the most powerful beings in the DC multiverse, the Spectre is the embodiment
04:40of God's wrath.
04:41And by wrath, we mean the Old Testament, flood the world to start humanity over type of wrath.
04:46The Spectre is also so full of hatred towards humanity that, if it's not bonded with the
04:50spirit of a human, it will judge everyone equally as sinners.
04:54This means, I don't know if you litter or something like that, you are the same as a
04:57murderer in the eyes of the Spectre, and therefore will be subject to his undeniable power.
05:02Even when bonded with a human, the Spectre has proven to be an uncontrollable force,
05:07making its users subject to the limitations brought on by being the Spectre.
05:11Even Hal Jordan, one of the strongest-willed humans in the universe, had difficulty controlling
05:15the Spectre, trying his best to direct the wrath for good, rather than for its innate
05:20neutral chaos.
05:215. Red Hood
05:23The Second Robin has become one of the most infamous characters in DC Comics history.
05:27His run as Robin was so hated by DC fans that they almost unanimously voted to kill him
05:32off in brutal fashion at the hands of the Joker.
05:34Sadly, like most comic book characters, he was actually brought back thanks to the use
05:38of Ra's al Ghul's Lazarus Pit.
05:40But being revived by the Lazarus Pit meant that the person who emerges from death is
05:44not the same as the person they once were, and Jason was no different.
05:48His exposure to the pit made him more unstable, more violent, and less willing to follow Batman's
05:53straight-edged moral compass.
05:54Instead, Todd believed that the only way to truly stop criminals is to bury them six feet
05:58underground.
05:59After becoming a new name, The Red Hood, Jason quickly became a fan favourite due to his
06:03brutal tactics on crime and his immediate rivalry with Batman.
06:07Red Hood has slowly become more of an anti-hero in recent stories, but when he first arrived,
06:12Red Hood viewed all of humanity as flawed and corrupt, and all too willing to try and
06:15save monsters like the Joker instead of doing what needed to be done in his eyes.
06:204. Detective Chimp
06:22And while some of you might not even know who he is, Detective Chimp has saved the universe
06:26countless times thanks to his heightened intelligence and overall skills in the magical
06:30arts.
06:31However, due to his appearance, Detective Chimp isn't accepted by most humans, and
06:35due to his intelligence, he isn't accepted by other chimps.
06:38So the world's smartest detective is forced to wander the Earth and its spiritual planes,
06:42saving universes when he can, all the while hating himself and others for the way he looks
06:47and how he's treated by his fellow magicians, as well as normal humans.
06:50Being forced to save people who won't ever truly accept him has led Detective Chimp to
06:54often despise humans and constantly wonder what the point of it all is, something shared
06:58with his fellow magician, Constantine.
07:00Though they also have a major rivalry, as Constantine is more aggressive towards the
07:04world than even Detective Chimp.
07:063. Cyclops
07:08Cyclops was once the greatest mutant to ever live.
07:11His heroic leading of the X-Men saved humanity countless times, even when he had to fight
07:15his own friends or lovers.
07:17That all changed when he gained the power of the Phoenix Force.
07:20With the Phoenix Force, Cyclops and several other X-Men devastated the world in the pursuit
07:24of betterment for all of mutant kind, leading to the death of Charles Xavier by Psyche's
07:28own laser.
07:30Even after losing the Phoenix Force, Cyclops turned into the one thing that he fought against,
07:33and that was pretty much Magneto.
07:35The stress of events like House of M reducing the mutant population, mixed with so many
07:39other traumatic wars and mutant genocides caused by humanity's unshakable hatred of
07:43the mutant race, radicalised Cyclops.
07:46Scott Summers took several mutants and went rogue, fighting against humans, the X-Men,
07:51and even the Inhumans, all to preserve mutants above any other race on Earth.
07:552. The Punisher
07:58Frank Castle already gained a negative outlook on the world when he was in the military,
08:02but on that fateful day that his entire family was slaughtered in front of him, he lost all
08:05traces of humanity that was still inside him.
08:08Though the Punisher doesn't kill or injure the innocent, he certainly has come to despise
08:12them.
08:13Whether it's because they allow the evil and corrupt to take power, stand by and let
08:16good people die or be hurt by evil people, or simply because they are so unaware of the
08:20filth that has taken over their cities, the Punisher has become fully separated from normal
08:24citizens and even other superheroes in his hatred of humans.
08:28This total disassociation can best be seen in the Marvel events Civil War.
08:32In the first version, Captain America went underground with several heroes to battle
08:36against Iron Man's loyalist group of heroes who were trying to get heroes to register
08:39with the government and reveal their secret identities to the world.
08:42Cap was running out of soldiers and recruited some C-list villains to assist by his side,
08:47but the Punisher killed those villains on sight, believing that if someone turns evil,
08:51they simply cannot be forgiven for the crimes they commit and the innocent lives they take.
08:55This forced Cap to toss the Punisher out of their resistance and turn Frank into a lone
08:59wanderer who felt justified in his violent and unforgiving actions.
09:031.
09:04Supergirl
09:05When people see the classic symbol of the House of L, they imagine the wearer of that
09:09symbol to treasure human life above all others.
09:12However, Kara, aka Supergirl, has constantly struggled with being an alien forced by her
09:16cousin to protect a race of people that are far weaker than her in every single way.
09:21Supergirl actually grew up on Krypton, so she had to fully deal with the loss of her
09:24entire civilization and wasn't able to experience humanity from a young age like her cousin.
09:29Thus, it became increasingly difficult to be asked to protect a civilization like ours.
09:33This hatred became so hard to fight against that at one point, Supergirl just up and left
09:37Earth to wander the stars and take a break from us.
09:40Her hatred for humanity became so bad that she actually attracted a Red Lantern ring
09:44and became a Red Lantern for a time.
09:46She has come back to Earth, but she still feels isolated and disconnected from us insignificant
09:50beings that she flies above every single day.
09:53And there we go, my friends.
09:54Those were the 10 greatest comic book heroes who despise humans.
09:57I hope that you enjoyed that, and please let me know what you thought about it down in
10:00the comments section below.
