00:00It is officially the most wonderful time of the year. Liverpool is full of
00:05sparkle and whilst we're a city not short on festive fun we are taking a
00:09look at things to get up to across the region over the Christmas period which
00:12are not your standard yuletide traditions. Everywhere looks so much
00:16prettier at Christmas time with the lights illuminating the city and for the
00:20fourth year on the run a family home in Hunt's Cross is putting on a sparkling
00:24display. Everyone is welcome to come and see the Liverpool Christmas light show
00:28where a local couple put on an illuminated show synchronized to music
00:33every evening during the festive period. It's all for good cause too as they do
00:37raise money for Alder Hey. Each show lasts approximately 25 minutes and there
00:41is a wide variety of sequences including Christmas classics such as the Pogues,
00:45Fairytale of New York and pop songs like Sabrina Carpenter's Espresso. Now if
00:50there's one thing I like more than food it is Christmas food. I'm not just
00:54talking about the feast on the day itself. I am an absolute sucker for a
00:58festive special from pizzas and burgers to sandwiches and curries. Why limit
01:02yourself to just one day of overindulgence I say when you can really
01:06drag it out over that festive period throughout December even into January.
01:11Whilst we all have our own favourite festive films which we watch year in
01:15year out and listen I am NOT here to argue what constitutes a Christmas movie
01:20that is personal preference. Most of us enjoy them at home curled up under a
01:24blanket or cozy or have them on in the background while we're wrapping presents.
01:28However going out to watch one on the big screen can be a wonderfully joyous
01:32occasion. The Plaza Cinema in Crosby is an historic gem in the heart of the
01:37community. They've got various festive flicks on offer and the Liverpool
01:40Philharmonic also has its annual screenings of It's a Wonderful Life and
01:43other Christmas classics. Whilst for the little ones a trip to Santa's Grotto is
01:48the ultimate rite of passage for those who think of their pets as their
01:51children you can make sure they are able to join in on the festive fun by
01:56taking them along to visit Santa Paws from Crockstith Hall, Dobbies Garden
02:01Centre to Bar Hut in Liverpool 1. Dogs that are on the nice list and let's face
02:05it even some that are on the naughty list can experience the festive fun for
02:09themselves. Now it might surprise you there are a good number of pubs open in
02:15Liverpool on Christmas Day whether you're looking for the chance to get out
02:19the house or it is your family's tradition of a pre-dinner pint. There is
02:24a good number of us who like to venture out to our locals on December 25th but
02:29don't forget to drink responsibly. Going outside during the coldest time of year
02:35might not be everyone's cup of tea but it can be great for dusting off the
02:38cobwebs. Those crunchy leaves and frosty fields can make for a very picturesque
02:42walk just as long as you wrap up warm. We are so lucky here in Liverpool with so
02:48many beautiful parks and green spaces to explore on our doorstep plus it can be a
02:52useful activity to clear your head and just getting some fresh air that is if
02:57the sun shines.
