00:00We are going live to Caracas, Venezuela, as our correspondent Belen de los Santos is there
00:04at the Casa del Alba as the social movements of the Alliance are meeting ahead of the summit
00:09tomorrow.
00:10Exactly, Luis, we are here in Caracas, we are at the House of Alba, and as we were saying,
00:20we've been covering these activities in the framework of the 24th Alba Summit that is
00:26underway here in Caracas that will take place on Saturday, but just before there are a lot
00:32of different activities that are happening here, and today in particular there are two
00:37very important activities.
00:40On the one hand, the foreign ministers of the Alba country are gathering here in Caracas
00:46in the Casa Amarilla, that is the foreign ministry of Venezuela, and also here in the
00:52House of Alba, where I am at, the social organizations are gathering, just joining,
00:58and the meeting is about to start at this moment, and the two separate events happening
01:05here just before the 24th Summit of Alba is very important and very significant to really
01:10understand what is happening here in Venezuela today.
01:14Why is this?
01:15Because Alba is 20 years old at this moment, and an important thing to understand is that
01:23since its formation, Alba thought with its founding fathers, that is Fidel and Hugo Chavez,
01:31they have envisioned this idea of a coordination mechanism that not only coordinates the governments,
01:38the states of these countries, but also coordinates the different social organizations, not only
01:45of Alba countries, but also of different countries that integrate the entire region.
01:52So at this moment we are here, the meeting is just about to start, so we are going to
01:56have this short message to bring you the latest.
02:01What is expected here is the mechanisms of integration, probably plans of different areas
02:09of work, such as communication, and also the collaboration with productions from the
02:15different social organizations.
02:17This is a vital key to really understand how Alba is not only just a mechanism, a formal
02:24mechanism among states, but also really an integration of cooperation between the peoples
02:31of the region.
02:32So that is what is happening here today at the House of Alba.
02:35We will come back with more guests, with the different perspectives of the social organizations
02:41that are not only Latin American and the Caribbean, but also from all over the world, bringing
02:47the most important topics to be discussed, of course international integration, of course
02:52the rejection of unilateral measures, the respect to sovereignty, and how international
02:58collaboration can help in that sense, and also some very important geopolitical topics
03:04such as the ongoing genocide in the Middle East, that is always in this sort of things,
03:11a very relevant topic.
03:13So this is starting right now, I will go back to you Luis and bring you more updates throughout
03:18the day.
03:19Thank you, Belen, we will stay tuned for all those updates coming in in the following newsbrief.
