Capt Amit Semwal, a true son of the soil, hailed from Tehri village in the Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. From an early age, he dreamt of serving the nation and eventually joined the Indian Army. Commissioned into the 16 Dogra Regiment, he displayed extraordinary courage and leadership during his service, particularly in counter-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir.

On 13th December 1999, Capt Amit Semwal led a daring search and cordon operation in Rajouri's Pohal Gai area. The operation turned into a fierce gun battle with heavily armed militants, lasting several hours. Tragically, Capt Amit Semwal made the ultimate sacrifice in this encounter, laying down his life for the country.

For his unparalleled bravery and supreme sacrifice, Capt Amit Semwal was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra, the nation’s second-highest peacetime gallantry award. This video is a tribute to his valor and dedication to protecting the sovereignty of India.
