00:00How do you say that an artist is good?
00:11I think it's when you forget or disregard who you really are and become another person.
00:24You drown yourself in being another character.
00:29And you are able to portray that with truth and honesty and believability.
00:37It's hard, right?
00:40It's hard because it's too deep.
00:43The craft is something to be respected.
00:46I've always said that there are actors who are really born to be actors.
00:55And there are some who are manufactured.
00:58Right.
00:59But I'm not against that.
01:02But to say that an artist is good has a lot of factors.
01:09A lot of layers.
01:10A lot of layers.
01:11And that includes your attitude.
01:13Right.
01:14What do you really want to be in this industry?
01:18Rafael, what about you?
01:19I mean, I think it goes deeper than what you see on the surface.
01:22It's like a duck.
01:24A sitting duck in a pond.
01:26Just like that.
01:27But underneath, you see them super paddle with your feet.
01:30There are two sides that I can see.
01:33There's the craft and then there's just the acting of delivering the lines.
01:37Like what you said earlier, the authenticity, you can fake it.
01:40I think it was Denzel Washington or Robert De Niro who said it.
01:43Some days you're there and some days you're not.
01:46And your job is to make sure that nobody knows the difference.
01:50So if you're going to fake it, you better fake it really well.
01:54So in terms of craft, being in character, you're creating a whole different personality.
02:00But more than anything, I think the punctuation in the whole acting craft is authenticity.
02:06Is it hard for you to snap out of a character?
02:10When I was starting out in the showbiz, I would debrief.
02:14Not understanding that after doing a scene, you have to debrief.
02:17So that the totality of your body can understand that,
02:20Hey, we're done. Don't bring this. This is not your real personality.
02:24So when you go home, you go back to Rafael Rosel.
02:26It's not your character that you debrief.
02:28So in the beginning of my career, I had a hard time debriefing.
02:32Until I learned that you're supposed to debrief after heavy scenes.
02:35Me too.
02:36Especially when I was younger.
02:38You've done roles.
02:39Oh yeah. I've done a few.
02:43But yes.
02:44Very few.
02:45Even up to now, sometimes, depending on the character I'm portraying,
02:51there are still times that I can't debrief.
03:06I love you.
03:09I love you too.
03:35I love you too.
04:05I love you too.
