00:00All right. So we got some of the quotes here from the Jimmy Butler interview today with Ira
00:07Winderman. And this was on the trade speculation, Leroy. That was today. We told you there was a
00:14little bit where he said, I like it. You know, we got some of the some of the quotes as they
00:18were having them, but this is the actual some of the back and forth. He said, I actually like it.
00:24It's good to be talked about. I don't think there's such thing as bad publicity to a point.
00:29But if somebody is talking about me getting traded, that's a lot. It's fine with me.
00:33It doesn't bother me. Not one bit. And I do appreciate it.
00:38I appreciate going out there and hoping I appreciate being efficient, being effective
00:42and help my team win. I don't ever want to take playing basketball for anybody for granted.
00:48And then when he was asked a follow up to that answer about where he stands in terms of a
00:52potential long term future with the heat, he responded, quote, Who knows? And then he also
00:59has asked our rights as pointedly of Miami remains where he wants to be with heat. President Pat
01:04Reilly last May, putting aside the talk of a Butler extension, the former All-Star said Wednesday,
01:09quote, I don't know. I'm pretty sure y'all are going to get a report that's going to say
01:13otherwise anyways. So there's no sense of me answering that question.
01:17I would. Well, because here's the problem to the question, Jimmy. No, but here's here's why Jimmy's
01:24calm down, calm down. Here's why Jimmy is smart, because they ask you a question. They run back to
01:30the other side and say, well, Jimmy said this. And so Jimmy just kind of squashed that by saying,
01:40I don't know if he squashed it. He squashed it because now he goes to the door, but he left it
01:46a little bit open. Well, he left it open. They didn't want to give him an extension.
01:52No, I mean, he said he understood it except doors closed. The door was open when they did that. It
01:57was like, oh, my God, what did Tobin do? Well, hold on. If he went in the toilet and traded him
02:02for assets and he said, I want to end my career in Miami. Yeah. Does anybody bat an eye at that?
02:08Like he told them last year that he wanted an extension. He wanted an extra year on the contract
02:13that he had. And then they said, no, he said, report, because you can't ask for an extension
02:20a year after. Why not? Why can't he ask for an extension? Why can't he ask for an extension?
02:26Because it wasn't a great year. Oh, dude, his knee got messed up. You guys are in great
02:32rat bastards. This is what annoys me about it. You want to know something? This is how
02:37Dwayne Wade ended up in a Cavs jersey because you didn't look the same. And then you try to make
02:42Josh Richardson the star of the team. It's not to say, okay, you and the Mrs. Anyone and their
02:48partner, for example, you guys are not on speaking terms because you have a disagreement of some
02:54sort. You're not then going to ask for a little alone time tonight, are you? You're going to wait
02:59till things are appropriate. Jimmy should have waited till things were more appropriate for him
03:03to ask for an extension is appropriate. You can only ask for the extension when you're eligible
03:08for the extension. You're not allowed to ask for it any time you want. Oh, the salary. Now,
03:13the salary gap exists. Now, he's got a lot to ask for an extension. If you can't get an extension,
03:19okay, easy, dude. And Pat Riley did this whole you want to know? So you want to talk about
03:22Pat Riley did the thing where he goes, well, I got you a nice anniversary gift the last time
03:26because Pat Riley was like, we didn't even negotiate the last extension. We just gave it to
03:30him. So you look at that. Look at that. And so they've already done right. Have they? I don't
03:37think here's what I think this year last year, here's what I think of this whole situation.
03:43Everybody's options are out there, right? Because guess what? At the end of the day,
03:49they Jimmy opt out and then give him a two year deal and everybody will be happy.
03:56That's all he wanted in the first place. Okay. Oh, he's one more Jimmy, but I would,
04:02but I would say this. I understand how the heat could have some reservations based on
04:13Jimmy's availability, but it's been like that, Leroy, since you got him,
04:21Jimmy Bowler's had, he had availability issues in the sixers. It doesn't mean they have to be
04:27happy with it. If that is a sticking point for the Miami heat, there's one or two things that
04:36could happen. Jimmy could play the same amount of games and go. Now we have to make a decision
04:42if we're willing to pay for this, or he can play most of the games and they go, okay. He understands.
04:52I'm still trying to figure out how this front office. Okay. And you know, I love the heat.
04:56Okay. I love them. I just want to go after them. Don't come in. You know, I really love them,
05:06but I'm having a hard time. I love you, but I think, um, I think we should break up. I'm having

05:17I'm having a hard time with anybody over the last six years who has looked upon
05:24the heat's problems and been like,
05:26Jimmy Butler missing 15 games over the last year is the, is the issues we've had.
05:31Like not the trades they haven't made, not the availability of other guys,
05:35not the reliance of too many undrafted guys, not playing first round picks. None of that
05:41has been looked upon as an issue, but now all of a sudden he gets to bear the blame
05:47because Jimmy's not available. Can, can I, I think it's ingrained behavior for the fans.
05:57There's two things. One thing I'm never going to shake you off. And, and, and I think this is where
06:04your thinking differs from organizations. And that is if you're 33 and you miss 25 games,
06:18if you're 34 and you miss 25 games, and if you're 35 and you miss 25 games of 82, okay.
06:30Is it safe to say that we're not going to get the same Jimmy that we got when he first got here
06:38because they may be thinking, Hey, he's on the other side of it. And if that's the case,
06:47then why would we extend that guy when he's going to be, now you're talking about 36 and 37,
06:54because you know, when it matters, he plays, it was a fluke injury last year.
07:01He plays when it matters. And he is an extremely great post-season player.
07:07But do you understand? He is 35 years old. That doesn't play. That doesn't matter to you.
07:14I think the fact that the warrior, Steph Curry's 35 years old,
07:17the Warriors are trying to make moves for him. People would move heaven and earth for Kevin
07:21Durant here. LeBron James is 40. This guy has been Leroy. He's been amongst the best amongst them
07:29in the post season. He's done what they've done. Maybe he hasn't got over the mountain,
07:33but he's also had the worst teams. Okay. Not worse than LeBron. Some of the teams, LeBron,
07:39wait, some of the teams that LeBron got to the playoffs wouldn't even be playoff teams.
07:44Some of the teams he got to the final on the Lakers. No, not the Lakers. No, I'm just saying
07:49over his career. But here's what, I understand that you love Jimmy. I don't, I love Jimmy too.
07:56Okay. He's got nice eyes.
07:58But what I'm trying to say to you is, is that at some point, at some point, see, you are willing
08:08to be caught or stuck with that $50 million deal with a player that can't play.
