00:00Now, back to Stiney and Guru on 95.7 The Game.
00:05You missed that nugget yesterday.
00:07I got some Bluetooth if anybody needs it. I won't call any names.
00:10And then he doubled back and he said it again.
00:12We didn't even respond. We just started cheering.
00:14My man, Steiner!
00:15We just started cheering.
00:16Yeah.
00:17I couldn't believe he said it.
00:18And I just couldn't get it up.
00:19Oh, boy.
00:20Yeah, man.
00:21Yeah.
00:22I was talking about a Christmas tree.
00:23Oh, yeah.
00:24Sure you were.
00:25And by the way, go ahead. I got it up yesterday, though.
00:29Oh, boy.
00:30Yeah.
00:31My man.
00:32I did.
00:33Oh, it's good.
00:34Yeah.
00:35You know what I took?
00:36I saw you're a Tuesday guy.
00:37I took Mark Willard's advice.
00:38Going up on a Tuesday.
00:39And somebody texted me yesterday about the mallet.
00:40And I did use a rubber mallet to hammer it in.
00:42Shut up, Ryan.
00:43Yeah.
00:44The crossover, ladies and gentlemen, is brought to you by Abundant Life Weight Loss.
00:48They know the secret to losing up to one pound of fat every day.
00:51Go to AbundantLifeWeightLoss.com.
00:53Real quick.
00:54This is the crossover.
00:55I wasn't here yesterday.
00:56Fake or real tree?
00:57Real.
00:58Real.
00:59We grew up on a fake one.
01:00Nothing wrong with the fake one.
01:01I thought your answer was both, Donnie.
01:02Yeah.
01:03Anyway.
01:04Yeah.
01:05Oh, boy.
01:06Yeah, we have a fake one in our one, in our flam, flam.
01:09In your corridors.
01:10I got two of them.
01:11Yeah.
01:12In his foray.
01:13He's got real in the front, in the picture room, in the great room, they would call it.
01:20Real in the great room with the vaulted ceilings.
01:22And then fake in the more trafficked area.
01:26I grew up with the real, and then as I became an adult, I realized that the fake, and I
01:32don't like that term, but for conversational sake, it's so much easier to, are you ready
01:38for the Christmas tree?
01:39Let me go to the garage.
01:40Okay.
01:41There you go.
01:42Yeah.
01:43And then you go out there, and you open up the box, and then boop, boop, boop, and it's
01:46up in 12 minutes.
01:47Hopefully.
01:48Hopefully we all live long enough to be like my parents who have also an artificial tree,
01:52but are now debating whether or not they even need to put that up.
01:55Why?
01:56No, they got to put it up.
01:57Why?
01:58Tell Tom to put it up.
01:59Why?
02:00Why?
02:01It's in the garage.
02:02It's heavy.
02:03They can't move, and no one's coming over.
02:04It's symbolic.
02:05You made it another year.
02:06Yeah.
02:07Yep.
02:08Put it up.
02:09I'll call them for you.
02:10We'll scoop them up and bring them to my sister's house for the actual day.
02:11Yep.
02:12Just sit down, Mom and Dad.
02:13Relax.
02:14It's fine.
02:15Pretty fun to watch my son in this day and age.
02:18Quest.
02:19Yes.
02:20I'm not a big fan of social media, but I saw Quest's Instagram post, and he has his
02:24first Christmas tree as an adult.
02:26Did you tear up?
02:27It's an artificial.
02:28Well, I teared up, and then I looked at his living room, and it's the only thing in the
02:33living room.
02:34Typical 23-year-old.
02:35I love it.
02:36I've been to his apartment.
02:37He's got a nice little two-bedroom with his good friend.
02:40Empty boxes turned over.
02:42Dude, no doubt.
02:43Yeah.
02:44What's his name?
02:45Berkeley?
02:46Emeryville.
02:47Emeryville.
02:48Oh, Emery.
02:49That's a good little not-quite-gated spot.
02:52Yeah.
02:53It's right there where Oakland and Emeryville and Berkeley all kind of come together.
02:58The confluence.
02:59Okay.
03:00Much like in Pittsburgh, the three rivers, there's a spot in the East Bay where Emeryville,
03:05Berkeley, and Oakland all kind of come together, and that's kind of where he is.
03:09Not to give out his address, but ...
03:10You know the area I've always been fascinated by?
03:13Kensington.
03:14Oh, it's awesome.
03:15What's going on in Kensington?
03:17Action.
03:18Action.
03:19If you are a single man looking for a 78-year-old widow ...
03:23Oh, boy.
03:24Hi, I'm Dan Dibley.
03:25Sounds like you should go there.
03:26You've got problems that you've been experiencing.
03:29Hey.
03:30Three things about Kensington.
03:31It's like a little burrow.
03:32It's a little ... What do they call it?
03:33An enclave.
03:34It's an enclave.
03:35Yes.
03:36It's an outcropping of Berkeley.
03:37Three things about Kensington.
03:40All true.
03:41Two cool.
03:42One not so cool.
03:43All right.
03:45Kensington Circus Pub, outstanding bar with a corner of toys for kids.
03:52You bring your kid and it's like ...
03:53What's the population?
03:54Go play.
03:55Number two, landmark pizza.
03:58Five out of five stars.
03:59Okay.
04:00Number three, that's where Zachariah's from.
04:03Yeah, and I knew they got a home still up there.
04:07They go to their little cabin.
04:08I saved the punchline for last, of course.
04:11That's Guru's former partner.
04:14I got you.
04:15Yeah.
04:16Anyway.
04:17Now, I wasn't here yesterday and I want to just ... I need your two ... I know his thoughts.
04:20Real quick, can we just do a rewind?
04:22Do whatever you want.
04:23You brought up social media and you defended Debo, so I don't want to give away where I'm
04:29at with it, but Willard Dibbs, I was offended that he sent out that tweet because you can't
04:35do that.
04:36One, after a win.
04:37Two, you got rabbit ears to social media.
04:40Why are you even saying that?
04:42And three, then you put it out to fans and media.
04:45I don't think he's frustrated, but that's just my interpretation and I could be wrong,
04:50so I don't think it's a big deal.
04:53Mike March didn't like it, the former coach.
04:55Nobody likes it.
04:56Yeah.
04:57Mark Slareth came on yesterday and fired on Debo.
05:00Fired after this.
05:01He did not like it at all.
05:03The question I had asked him was, as a teammate, how would you feel about this?
05:07Bad.
05:08Yeah, he went after him.
05:10We had a conversation yesterday about whether it's been a good leadership year for Debo
05:14because he's a leader.
05:15He's a leader on this team and I don't think it's been a great leadership year for him.
05:20Again, it's not a huge deal.
05:21It's just a tweet.
05:23After a win, will you score 40?
05:25That's what I said.
05:27If I were sitting next to Debo, I'd ask him, okay, what'd you get out of that?
05:31What did you get out of sending that tweet?
05:35What if he says vindication?
05:38People don't know that this is why I'm not doing it like I used to.
05:42That's what he said.
05:43I don't think he got vindication because then he deleted it.
05:46If he feels vindicated, he's going to leave that up forever.
05:49You're going to put a frame around it and put it on your wall.
05:52All he did was welcome in negative attention, bring about questions with regard to his teammates.
06:01I'm sure those are unintended consequences, but they're consequences.
06:05They still count.
06:07He's down a half a touch from last year as far as him not getting the ball.
06:12He's getting about six touches a game.
06:14Last year, he was at six and a half.
06:16It's really not that.
06:17But now five of them are coming in the way of a running back.
06:21It's not downfield.
06:23The touches.
06:24Last game, it was downfield.
06:26The opening catch he had was a 20-yard pass catch where he ran a deep in,
06:31and he came back to the ball, and he got it.
06:33And it was great.
06:34And then the other ones, one of the ones that I was highlighting yesterday was
06:38he was in the backfield, and they gave it to him.
06:40They pulled Dominic Poony on a designed run, and Poony missed the block.
06:45And the linebacker fired right through Poony and blew him up for no gain.
06:49And you could see Debo kind of drop the shoulders a little bit like,
06:52man, the one time I do get the ball, y'all can't even block for me?
06:56I do think that the tweet was more aimed at Kyle and Brock than it was at the fans
07:01because Kyle's not designing plays for him.
07:04And we'll have Greg Cosell later today, and that's one of my questions for Greg,
07:08is when you look at the film and you look at what Brock did, 20 for 25,
07:13he was able to get whatever he wanted all game long,
07:17but that didn't really involve Debo.
07:19Who, real quick, Stoddy, by all accounts, if I had a dollar for every time
07:23somebody said this since the Super Bowl, has problems against man coverage.
07:27Like, that's what I wanted the tweet to be about.
07:29I don't know if he has problems against man coverage.
07:31He has problems being a traditional wide receiver against man coverage,
07:34but he's never been a traditional wide receiver.
07:36Stoddy, there you go.
07:37Like, he doesn't, you know what I mean?
07:39How long has it been since Debo's been used as just, like, regular wide receiver?
07:43It feels like forever.
07:46A long time.
07:47Long time.
07:48Ever since the year that they rallied and went 10 and 7
07:51and beat the Rams in the last game of the regular season
07:54and made the playoffs and ended up in the NFC title game
07:56where they lost to the Rams.
07:57The year the Rams beat, like, he's been used as,
08:00I don't even know how to describe it, you know,
08:03wing back, wide receiver, running back, whatever, like, ever since then.
08:08So, you know, I don't know, man.
08:12Six and a half touches down to six, and you could argue
08:14it would still be six and a half if you would catch the balls
08:16that were thrown to him.
08:17Whoa, whoa.
08:18It's not that he's not getting the ball.
08:20It's that he's not going anywhere when he gets it.
08:22And I'm actually on his side that that's not mainly on him.
08:27I don't think he's lost a step.
08:30I think there are a confluence of factors as to why his plays have not gone anywhere.
08:35But I'm with you.
08:37I just don't find going to Twitter about it productive at all.
08:42You're listening to 95.7 The Game, KGMZ FM, and HD1 San Francisco.
08:46Always live on the free Odyssey app.
08:48Twitch and YouTube powered by First NorCal Credit Union.
08:51Yeah, we had Mike Martz on at 1 o'clock, former St. Louis Rams coach,
08:56and we were talking to him for a while, and then I asked him something about Purdy,
09:01and he goes, well, I'm dancing around the subject,
09:03but the real issue with the Niners has been their offensive line.
09:07That's what he said.
09:08I mean, that's kind of what he was getting at,
09:10and he was just saying how, you know, that's the one position group
09:13that impacts everything, every single thing.
09:15And if there's something not going, you know,
09:17the offensive line isn't having a great season, it's going to affect Purdy,
09:22which it has, and then it's going to affect the receivers, which it has.
09:25And they look great against Chicago, and poof, look what happened.
09:29Barely threw any incompletions.
09:31But am I the only one that can honestly say, watching the game again,
09:35because I was at home, he called and dialed different stuff up
09:39I had not seen this year, Kyle.
09:41Yep.
09:42Is that just me, or, like, it looked different.
09:44And that's why Stanton and I were battling, he'll never adjust or do it.
09:48Like, there was some difference to the screens to kid, like,
09:52okay, give us more of that, maybe.
09:55The screens to kiddle, absolutely.
09:57And the one play I'm going to ask Greg Cosell about is the pass to Gorendo
10:01when it looked like that he, Brock Purdy changed the play
10:05or he alternated the play, or altered, rather, the line of scrimmage,
10:09and then Gorendo leaks out, and that's a play, actually,
10:11where Debo was wide open on the left side, but it was man coverage,
10:16and Brock sees Gorendo on a linebacker, and he waits,
10:19and he threw that high, kind of alley-oop, lob pass down the sideline.
10:24It was underthrown, whatever, but he found Gorendo in man coverage,
10:27and that's one where, if you're Debo, you're thinking, dude, he was wide open.
10:33Like, Debo had room to cook, but at the same time,
10:36Gorendo got, what, 45 yards in that play or whatever it was?
10:40The same play they ran for McCaffrey a couple weeks earlier.
10:43Yeah, a little bit of a wheel route.
10:45Yeah, exactly. He sent him out in that little wheel route.
10:48Did he throw a little block first, though?
10:51I don't know if he chipped somebody or not there, Mark.
10:54Call it a wheel route to Cosell in hopes that he's going to absolutely destroy you.
11:00He's missed you because he ain't been in the last couple times.
11:03What's funny is I actually didn't do the notes this week because your boy was down.
11:08I've been down and out since last week, and so even though I rewatched it,
11:12I didn't get a chance to sit down and do all my notes,
11:14so I'm coming in a little bit as a novice today.
11:17He's missed you, though.
11:18Anything could happen.
11:19He had Grandy last time. They did a good job, but he missed him.
11:21He took Grandy behind the woodshed, you know.
11:24Two weeks ago, last week, he took Willard behind the woodshed.
11:27Yeah.
11:28I missed him.
11:29I'm not going to say it was on purpose,
11:33but I threw something at him, and I knew that he was going to spike it
11:37because I brought up money.
11:38I was like, why is Devo getting paid like that?
11:41He basically called him a product of the system.
11:45He said about Devo what people have accused Brock Burdy of.
11:49Why the hell is he making so much money than Greg?
11:52Oh, he doesn't deal with that.
11:53No, not at all.
11:54What did he say, though?
11:55I went into it.
11:57I was like Draymond with the night-night.
11:59I blacked out.
12:00I don't know what he said.
12:01That's the greatest thing ever.
12:02You should have one every interview
12:05where you just kind of bait him a little with some wrong information.
12:09Just to see.
12:11You know what I mean?
12:12Just to see.
12:13Or ask him something that he knows.
12:16What does he say?
12:17I don't know why people do what they do.
12:20I can just tell you what they do.
12:22I can just tell you what I see in the film.
12:24What do you think is going on?
12:25What was he thinking on this throw, Greg?
12:27Exactly.
12:28The other one is what was the play design?
12:31Was the play designed to go here?
12:33Well, I'm not in the meetings.
12:34I'm not in the meeting room.
12:35Here's a question I think I want to throw out of the day.
12:38Do you think Kyle Shanahan's play calls will work with the Bears?
12:42Greg, your thoughts.
12:44That's mine for today.
12:46We're going to do it.
12:48Yeah, pretty fun.
12:50You want it?
12:52You want it?
12:53Does everybody want it?
12:54Okay, listen.
12:55You're going to love this.
12:57We'll give you a three count to stop, drop, and listen.
13:01Okay?
13:02Someone's talking to you.
13:03Tell them to shut up.
13:05Three, two, one.
13:09LeBron James is not with the Lakers.
13:12Wait, what?
13:13LeBron James is not with the Lakers.
13:14Has he been traded?
13:16Not to our knowledge, but he is not in practice.
13:20He is not with the team.
13:22He is also, quote, unknown for the Lakers game on Friday,
13:27which is still 48 hours away.
13:29Now that is really shocking.
13:31He is, quote, taking some time.
13:34That was from JJ Reddick.
13:35That's from JJ.
13:36Here's the actual quote.
13:38LeBron is not with the team right now.
13:40He's out for personal reasons, excused absence.
13:44JJ was unclear if he'd be back Friday and then later stated, quote,
13:48he's taking some time.
13:49So he's sending a message because he's not missing any games.
13:52They don't have any.
13:53What do you think?
13:55What do you think is happening?
13:57I think he's such a narcissist that he's just letting everybody know he's
14:01upset with what the Lakers are doing.
14:03He took a horrible shot last Friday while Pops and I watched it at Chase.
14:07So I really think this is a nothing burger, but it's up his road of,
14:13hey, everybody, the king is mad.
14:15Do something.
14:18If I had a bet, I would bet on you.
14:21I think that's right.
14:22But I'll do the hot take.
14:24He's going to retire.
14:27He's going to retire.
14:29That would be my hot take.
14:30He's going to retire.
14:31Can I give you a follow-up quote?
14:33He knows he stinks now.
14:34Their backup.
14:35ESPN was able to track down the Lakers' backup center for this quote.
14:40Who, Robert Socker?
14:41No, Christian.
14:42Robert Sockery.
14:44Koloko.
14:45Yeah.
14:46Christian Koloko.
14:48I mean, we already know he knows everything.
14:52He's going to come back, and he's still going to be the same.
14:56He's going to give everything on the court.
14:58Listen to this.
15:00We've just got to do our part and just get better so that when he comes back,
15:05he can look at us and be like, oh, yeah,
15:09they were actually working when he wasn't there.
15:12Yeah.
15:13But we know he'll come back and just pick everything up.
15:15He's been in the NBA for a long time.
15:17I'll say this.
15:20This is a shot to his teammates because none of them are playing D,
15:23but to me it's worse than J.J. Redding.
15:25Year one, not even halfway through, he's pulling this move,
15:29unless you guys talk behind the scenes.
15:31I just think it looks bad for J.J.
15:33It looks bad for the entire organization,
15:35which LeBron has largely held hostage since he got there,
15:39and that's the way that goes.
15:42He kind of forced them to draft his son,
15:45his son who averaged about two points a game at USC,
15:48and I'm rounding up the other night and he's just, I mean,
15:51his son is not an NBA player yet.
15:53He wanted to make history.
15:55And I called this about five years ago that this would happen.
15:58And then it did happen.
15:59And it's like, man,
16:00you forced your organization to use draft capital to draft your son.
16:04And your son is,
16:06your son wasn't even good enough to start for a mediocre USC team.
16:10And now he's a Laker.
16:11So this comes as no surprise to me.
16:13Willard, you trying to make a warrior angle?
16:15I see you working.
16:16I'm trying to make, I don't have to.
16:18It's already been made by Brian Windhorst every day this week.
16:21So listen, this is how I look at it.
16:25As opposed to any other player in the NBA or any trade,
16:29this happens if LeBron wants it to.
16:32That's how trades work for him.
16:35That's how everything works for him.
16:37Like I, I, I had this quote one time.
16:40I didn't get the quote,
16:41but an NBA reporter told me that they received the quote directly from
16:45LeBron's agent.
16:46And, and,
16:47and this was when one of the free agencies things was happening,
16:50like before the decision or whatever.
16:52And,
16:53and everyone wanted to know where LeBron was going to play.
16:55And the agent said,
16:56LeBron will play wherever LeBron wants to play.
17:00Any team that he says he wants to go there.
17:04We'll figure out a way to make it happen.
17:06Let's be honest.
17:07If he wanted to play in Vegas,
17:09the NBA would make a team in Vegas.
17:12He does what he wants.
17:15He's got that kind of juice.
17:16So he's got a full no trade clause as we know.
17:19Yeah.
17:20The only way this comes up is if he wants it to.
17:22And the fact that he's saying all this,
17:25and then he leaves the team.
17:27I mean,
17:28well,
17:29to that point,
17:30I'm looking at a tweet from basketball reference from yesterday.
17:33And they said,
17:34here's a look at which basketball reference player page had the most views in
17:38each state in 2024.
17:41And LeBron James has the most player views in 48 of 50 states in the USA.
17:49There are only two states where other players have more views than LeBron
17:55James.
17:56One of them is Colorado.
17:58Okay.
17:59One of them is Massachusetts.
18:02Who would those players be?
18:03Scott?
18:04Interesting.
18:05I'll tell you what I'm going to do.
18:07And here's what I'm going to do.
18:08My man.
18:11No,
18:14you can do whatever you want.
18:15It's something that we don't do enough of in this society.
18:19Yep.
18:20And it's give the benefit of the doubt.
18:22I think as fans of the golden state warriors,
18:26we know that sometimes guys have personal stuff going on.
18:30That's bigger than the game.
18:31For sure.
18:32I think we should let LeBron James have his time.
18:34And maybe we'll find out that there's something more serious than
18:38basketball.
18:39But I hear you,
18:40but this is not,
18:41if you watch that Atlanta game Friday,
18:43which they blew,
18:44he is mad at how his team is playing around.
18:47Like the king you're beneath.
18:49He's taking time off because he thinks that the team's not good enough.
18:53That's a joke,
18:55but it's a scare.
18:57Practice.
18:58And then that's,
18:59that's a,
19:00that's a bridge too far,
19:01but that's what it is.
19:02Willard contemplating his future.
19:04Well,
19:05ensuring that he doesn't ruin a trade by snapping a ligament.
19:11They've done everything for you.
19:12And this is how you pay them back.
19:14That's what he's done with every organization he's ever played for.
19:16I don't think he looks,
19:18he doesn't look at it that way.
19:20And I actually support him in that.
19:21I like the whole,
19:22like the organization does something for you.
19:24Yeah.
19:25Well,
19:26I'm pretty sure he does a lot for the organization.
19:27And that's why Curry's like me with how much I'm getting paid.
19:30I didn't make Joe.
19:31Come on now.
19:32I don't like,
19:33I don't know.
19:34Give me somebody.
19:35I don't look at like,
19:36take Curry and the Warriors.
19:37Does anybody owe anything to the other party?
19:39Is,
19:40is some,
19:41is that out of balance?
19:42What the Warriors have given Curry and what Curry has given the Warriors.
19:45Is it out of balance to you?
19:46No,
19:47I feel like there's something on the debit card towards Curry to get him some
19:50immediate help.
19:51Well,
19:52that's fine.
19:53It works.
19:55Whatever they've done in the last 13 years,
19:57has one side quote done.
19:59You know what I mean?
20:00Well,
20:01Curry's done more for Joe.
20:02You may be right,
20:04but my point is,
20:05I think both of them have done everything that they can do.
20:07Right?
20:08Like they've both held up their end of the bargain.
20:11Yeah,
20:12I would agree with that.
20:13The only,
20:14the only people that would disagree would be saying,
20:15well,
20:16Lake still makes 50 times more than Steph Curry,
20:19but that's just the nature.
20:21Interesting.
20:22When you make that point,
20:23because the word came out about Shoei Otani and how much money he made,
20:26the Dodgers,
20:27even though they're paying him whatever a year,
20:30he made them $120 million last year in total,
20:34like Japan and South Korea and international revenue.
20:38So even though you're paying him whatever,
20:4070 or I don't even know what the number is.
20:42Two.
20:43Yeah.
20:44You're going to pay him that much.
20:46But the point is,
20:47even though,
20:48even if you gave him a hundred million in cold,
20:51hard cash,
20:52it still is worth it.
20:53Cause he's generating more than that.
20:54I think we're going to find that out.
20:56The same thing out with Willie Adamas.
20:58I mean,
20:59he is going to make this organization week move Barkley.
21:02They're going to,
21:03they're going to kill him tonight.
21:04All right.
21:05What,
21:06what move?
21:07What bronze?
21:08Oh,
21:09the bronze thing.
21:10Okay.
21:11Taking his toys and going home until you guys get better.
21:12Well,
21:13we'll see.
21:14Yeah,
21:15we'll say press conference tomorrow for Willie Adamas.
21:17Sir,
21:18we're going to take it.
21:19We're taking it alive.
21:20We're taking it live right here on.
21:21We are.
21:22Yeah.
21:23Cause you are on our show.
21:24Greg Cosell.
21:25Don't go anywhere.
21:26Must hear radio Willard and dibs in the house on 95.
