00:00The government is still focused on reforms to create job opportunities here in the Philippines.
00:06In the long term, the Philippines does not need to create another country.
00:11Kenneth Paciente is back.
00:15President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. insisted that the government should continue to build bridges to improve the well-being of OFWs.
00:23That is his priority in the 2024 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas.
00:29According to the executive board, the government should continue to work with other countries to strengthen labor agreements
00:36to ensure that OFWs will be protected.
00:40We are strengthening our labor agreements with other countries,
00:43conducting aggressive campaigns against illegal recruitment and trafficking,
00:48mobilizing the agarang, kalinga, and saklolo for overseas Filipino workers that need funds,
00:56keeping our government communication lines open to migrant workers through the One Repatriation Command Center,
01:04and facilitating the safe repatriation of OFWs who are affected by conflicts or calamities.
01:10Although the government is focused on the well-being of OFWs,
01:14the government is not able to implement reforms to create job opportunities here in the Philippines.
01:21Our dream is to one day make overseas work a choice rather than a necessity.
01:28We continue to implement reforms in governance and economic development to provide our people with opportunities here at home.
01:36Meanwhile, the President recognized the 13 overseas individuals and organizations that have worked tirelessly
01:42and contributed greatly to their professions and communities.
01:46The President praised them for bringing glory to the country.
01:50We continue to prove time and again that whatever the tides of destiny, wherever they carry us,
01:57within or beyond our shores, there is always a compelling story of Filipino grit, passion, sacrifice, resilience, resourcefulness.
02:09The Filipinos' competence, our work ethic, and genuine care for other people make us a truly remarkable race.
02:17The Executive Board encouraged the Filipinos to be an inspiration and represent the awardees
02:23and continue to contribute to the overall development of their communities.
