00:00London's New Year's Eve fireworks are a dazzling, iconic spectacle. While many of
00:06the best viewing areas require tickets, there are plenty of fantastic spots to watch the
00:11fireworks for free, so here's a guide to the best places to enjoy the show without
00:16spending a penny.
00:18Greenwich Park offers a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere for firework watchers. Located
00:23on a hill, it provides clear views of the Thames and the London Eye in the distance
00:28as well as the London Skyline. While it can get busy, the park is large enough that you
00:33can usually find a good spot to pitch up and watch the display. It's ideal for those
00:38who want to enjoy the show in a less crowded, more serene setting.
00:43South Bank along the Thames is one of the best free locations on the other side of the
00:49river to the ticketed event. If you want to be close to the action, this is a great spot.
00:54The area offers a fantastic view of the London Eye and is within walking distance of many
01:00of the major landmarks. Although it can get very crowded, the festive atmosphere along
01:05the riverfront makes it a lively place to ring in the New Year.
01:10For an elevated view, Primrose Hill is a top choice in North London. This park provides
01:16sweeping panoramic views of the skyline including the London Eye and Big Ben in the distance.
01:23On the other side of London, you have Crystal Palace Park which offers the same spectacle
01:28from the south.
01:29Tower Bridge offers a lovely viewpoint of the fireworks as well with a display reflected
01:35on the Thames. While it's not directly in the heart of the event, it provides a picturesque
01:40vantage point and the area around the bridge along the river offers several great viewing
01:45spots. It's generally less crowded than more central locations but still can get very busy
01:51so head to this one early.
