00:00If you're familiar with Lafayette Jeff's football program, you probably know that head coach Patrick
00:05Shanley intends to not just build up a team of young people that win on the field, but in life,
00:10by instilling values of leadership, service, and community into every member of the team.
00:16Those things aren't just paid lip service, though. You'll find the Jefferson High School
00:19football team practicing these things as much as any play on the field. These young men put
00:24words into action and spent their Thursday night volunteering with Toys for Tots at
00:28North End Community Center. It was just like our coach's idea like we got texted to a group chat
00:33like we're all in a group chat and he just texted a group chat and asked if anybody wanted to come
00:37help and we all volunteered to come help. We found out it was the community center and we were like
00:41that's a good idea go out there help out whatever they need for a while and if they needed something
00:46we're gonna be there so we just signed up and said we'd go got a couple cars together and drove.
00:51And while it might have been coach's idea, these young leaders were happy to spend their night
00:55making sure every child has a merry Christmas. It meant a lot to us I mean coming from like
01:02coming from a place where you don't you don't get much it's like I want to I want to make sure no
01:07one else has to deal with that. We like to go in the community just do things with other people and
01:11show them that we are more than just a football team trying to win games on Fridays. We're a team
01:16that's going to be around each other for probably our whole lives. The Friday night lights have
01:20dimmed, but thanks to the Jeff football team, the holidays just got a little brighter. Emily
