00:00Aside from the announcement of the Energy Regulatory Commission of Taas Ingil sa Kuryente in January 2025,

00:06Taas Ingil will be implementing Meralko this December because of the generation charge.

00:12Here is my first news.

00:25That's why she was nervous to find out that Meralko will be implementing Taas Ingil this December.

00:30On Christmas, where will you get the energy charge that they will be adding to your electricity?

00:38If you already have an agreement that this is the price, you won't be able to change it.

00:43You will be absorbed. You will be lost.

00:46According to Meralko, the bill for electricity will be added to the total charge of 21 pesos

00:50of typical households that consume 200 kWh because of the increase in the generation charge

00:58that Meralko is paying to the suppliers of electricity.

01:01This is the result of 10.48 centavos per kilowatt hour added to the electricity.

01:06So what drove the increase in the generation charge?

01:09Well, primarily, it was the higher prices in the wholesale electricity spot market or WESEM.

01:15The increase in our power supply agreement was also a sign, even though the IPPs were lowered.

01:25But it was not coincidental that the ERC approved the addition of NGCP from January.

01:32It is not yet clear to Meralko how much this will affect the bill.

01:36Once we get the order, of course, we will include it in our power bills.

01:41Whatever the rates will be, it's going to be a pass-through charge and the cost will go to the grid operator,

01:50who I think, in turn, will pay it to the generators.

01:56Because it's Christmas, Meralko reminded the public of the safe use of electricity.

02:01Just use Christmas lights that have quality control markings.

02:05Avoid the use of paco or thumbtacks when installing Christmas lights.

02:09Avoid octopus connection and overloading.

02:12Remove the lights that are not being used from time to time.

02:15And make sure you have a fire extinguisher at home.
