00:00Inclusive Education in Uzbekistan has been prioritized in recent years.
00:15The goal is to provide all children with special needs with the opportunity to attend a mainstream

00:21In this episode of Learning World, we are diving into the heart of Inclusive Education
00:27in Uzbekistan, exploring schools and teacher training centers that are dedicated to supporting
00:32children of all abilities.
00:40Our first stop is a classroom in Tashkent where seven-year-olds are starting their day
00:46with a maths lesson.
00:48Here we see how children with a range of abilities and needs are fully part of the learning experience.
00:54In this classroom, there are three children with special needs.
01:05Their teacher, Mubarak Azizova, attended specialized Inclusive Education courses last summer where
01:11she learned from her colleagues from France.
01:25Halima Nazarova has a tutor helping her during the classes.
01:41Halima's mother says that in just a couple of months, there have been some inspiring results.
01:54Since September, the school welcomes children with various special needs.
02:25This equipment was provided with the support of UNICEF, which is closely collaborating
02:31with the government to enhance the system of Inclusive Education in Uzbekistan.
02:37We have seen a tremendous change in the past five years when it comes to children with disabilities.
02:43In 2020, there was a presidential decree to incorporate children in the regular schools.
02:50Since then, in 2021, we supported the government to ratify the Convention on People with Disabilities.
02:59Uzbekistan's government is working closely with various international organizations to develop
03:04Inclusive Education in the country.
03:06One of the programs, All Children Succeeding, is implemented by USAID.
03:11This is directly in support of the government's initiative to have 51% of schools practicing
03:18Inclusive Education by the year 2025.
03:21This is a program that's focused on first and foremost on human capital, so making sure
03:25that teachers are equipped and ready and confident to practice and implement Inclusive Education
03:31practices in their classrooms.
03:35With each passing year, there are an increasing number of schools with Inclusive Classrooms
03:39across the country.
03:49I visited one of the teacher trainings at the Avlon Institute in Tashkent.
03:55A number of skills are required to effectively conduct Inclusive Classes.
