00:00The vaccination of newborns is of crucial importance for public health and the well-being of the community.
00:16The first months of life of newborns, in fact, are a particularly vulnerable period during which the little ones are exposed to various potentially serious infectious diseases.
00:25A fact underlined in Naples during the Mission Vaccinale Convention sponsored by the Italian Pediatric Federation's Campana section,
00:32which made the point on the current state of vaccinations in the region, highlighting the importance of vaccination coverage for the health of children.
00:39For us pediatricians, there is no difference between mandatory and recommended vaccinations.
00:44On the mandatory, it is obvious that there is a tighter control, because obviously they are the ones that then give the child the opportunity to access society,
00:52so the school and all the rest, while the recommended ones are the ones that, in my opinion, have the greatest impact,
00:58because they are serious diseases, not so incidental, but above all they are very complicated, because they are serious diseases
01:07and that we must distinguish, not to call them more as it once was, in fact, that's how it is,
01:10vaccinations are recommended and not so-called mandatory and optional reactions, it is no longer an option,
01:18it is simply a protection that we want to be given to the child and therefore we must respect the recommendations for these vaccinations, which are very important.
01:27In Campania, the data on coverage show encouraging numbers, with an increase in the adhesion of families to vaccinations, thanks to the fundamental role of pediatricians.
01:36Today we can say that as far as mandatory vaccines are concerned, the coverage is very, very well covered
01:43and now we are increasing these recommended vaccinations in this period, among which we have the latter, which are really urgent and which greatly improve the vaccination coverage.
01:58I am referring to HPV, meningococcus and also to RSV, which is going very hard to cover these children who must be vaccinated.
02:09Diseases such as meningitis or pneumonia can have devastating consequences, but thanks to vaccines, the risk of contracting them is reduced significantly.
02:17Losing this possibility of not vaccinating your children, putting them at risk of a disease that still exists and when it is present, it is not a simple disease,
02:26it is a disease that often leads to fatal success, we must increase the adhesion to the vaccination field.
02:34It is logical that for meningitis B, which is a particular vaccine, it must also be defined in the proposition of the vaccine and in this there is also the participation of the free choice pediatricians, which is fundamental in my opinion.
02:49With continuous collaboration between health institutions, pediatricians and families, it is possible to further improve the vaccination coverage in Campania,
02:57thus guaranteeing effective protection for all children and contributing to a healthier community.
03:03You have to have faith in science, you have to have faith in your pediatrician, because when there are recommendations,
03:11there are years and decades of studies behind these recommendations, so they have to trust these proposals and then they can be seen on the field.
03:19We have seen it with papilloma, which is giving excellent results.
03:22Vaccinating a child means preventing a problem.
