00:00It's a long way to the top, but for some people taking the lift just isn't good enough.
00:12Running up all 52 floors of the Emirates towers isn't easy, but it was a chance to raise some
00:17money for the aid organisation Médecins Sans Frontieres.
00:21Around 120 people braved the sweltering heat and put on their running shoes to climb the
00:261,300 stairs.
00:28After about 10 floors, the lactic acid kicked in and it was just burning all the way up
00:32from 10 floors up. When you got to 26 floors, you're like, yeah, I'm halfway there.
00:36Because we brought our two-year-old son, and of course he didn't climb the whole way, but
00:40he did about 15 staircases, and I think it's a nice thing that even the kids can exercise
00:44and be healthy, and that's what it's for, yeah.
00:48Just over 120,000 dirhams were raised from the morning's activities for medical missions
00:53around the world.
00:54A huge thank you to all of our sponsors, all of our volunteers, and especially everybody
00:58that went up the tower and actually did the marathon.
01:00The vertical marathon has been a regular fixture for a number of years at the Emirates towers.
01:05Organisers hope the fundraiser will help doctors and nurses provide emergency treatment to
01:10people in need.
