00:00Good evening and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. Weather continuing
00:04to quiet down as we head through this evening, and that's thanks to the area of high pressure
00:08situated across the northern half of the country. But still, with a squeeze of ice across the
00:13south, we fairly breezy at first. But as the high pressure begins to take dominance, things
00:17settling down as we head towards the later half of the week. But back to this evening,
00:21very much a northwest southeast split across the country, clear skies and cold conditions
00:25across Northern Ireland and Scotland, but cloudy with stronger winds and also a fair
00:31frequent showers moving into the southeast, particularly parts of Kent, seeing quite a
00:34few showers overnight, seeing a fairly damp evening here. Temperature is going to be widely
00:39starting the day in the single figures across the southern half of the country, around four
00:43to six degrees further north across Northern Ireland and Scotland. Underneath those clear
00:48skies, we will see temperatures falling away. Widespread frost expected here and also fog
00:53patches, particularly for the south and western parts of Northern Ireland and central belt
00:58of Scotland. So could just see some difficult driving conditions as we head through the
01:03morning rush hour. But where the fog does clear, it's going to be a dry and bright start to the
01:08day for Northern Ireland and Scotland. Further north, though, we do start to see things turning
01:12a bit wet and windier as a frontal system approaches into Shetland and Orkney later.
01:17But further south, holding onto a very cloudy picture, do see those showers beginning to die
01:21away as that high pressure continues to take dominance. But it will still be fairly breezy
01:25and over the high ground, particularly to the league of the Pennines. And in southwest Wales,
01:30there still will be a fairly gusty conditions. Showers also still feeding in, particularly to
01:35parts of southeastern England and parts of Kent. But elsewhere, a generally dry picture with a few
01:41brighter spells in the mix. Temperatures again is still going to be fairly cool. So temperatures
01:45at best around six to eight across the southern half of the UK. But for Northern Ireland and
01:49Scotland, it will be staying cool during the day temperatures at best into the low single figures
01:54and could still stay freezing in a few rural spots as well. And some of these fog patches
01:59could just be stubborn enough to be lingering here into the afternoon in a few spots as well.
02:04Heading through Tuesday evening, then so that area of rain does continue to push across the
02:09northern isles for Shetland and Orkney. But still, we're holding onto clear skies for most of
02:13Scotland and Northern Ireland, leading frost and fog formation again here. But cloudy conditions
02:18continue across the rest of the UK and those showers continue to get a little bit lighter.
02:24With that, we're going to see temperatures around four or five degrees, maybe a touch cooler
02:28across the far south of the country on Wednesday morning. But it's still going to be a very cool
02:33and frosty start to the day for Northern Ireland and Scotland. They'll be particularly this morning
02:37on Wednesday where on western and southwestern parts of Northern Ireland and the central and
02:42south and southern part of Scotland could see some frost and freezing fog again. Further north,
02:48across parts of Shetland and Orkney, it'll be another damp start to the day and temperatures
02:52a touch milder here and not so much in the way of frost or fog. Heading through the rest of the day
02:57on Wednesday, so for the northern isles staying with that frontal system and going to be a fairly
03:02damp day, but plenty of sunshine and cool, bright conditions for parts of Scotland where that fog
03:07does clear as we head through the day and further south at high pressure beginning to take further
03:12dominance. So we do start to see a few brighter spells in the mix. But again, we're still holding
03:17on to some showers across the southern half of the UK as well. Temperatures at best around six or
03:21eight degrees. And again, for Northern Ireland and for parts of Scotland could still be staying
03:25freezing throughout the day as we head in towards the afternoon. And again, those fog and those frog
03:32patches could last into the afternoon in some of these spots as well. So just want to keep your eye
03:37on heading through the evening then. So again, a similar picture, clear spells developing across
03:44parts of Scotland. But as we move into Thursday, we will start to see this pushing in in towards
03:48Thursday morning. So if you want to keep up to date on any of the weather,
