00:00We had our 40th wedding anniversary in 2022. Now we decided we've been to Hawaii before so we
00:06thought we'd do something different so we go to Kauai. On Father's Day we flew out. One of our big
00:10ticket items was to fly to see the island because that's the only way to see Kauai,
00:15which is the garden island. When that ended we obviously got a flight to Honolulu and that's
00:21where it all went downhill severely. Interesting some of the hotels because they have escalators
00:27to go up to the foyer to the check-in. Probably not even halfway up the escalator I could see
00:33the suitcase rocking. Last things I remember is saying it's going to fall. Andrew turned and as
00:40he turned he lost his footing so therefore suitcase and Andrew knocked me down and the
00:45next thing I remember is waking up at the top of the escalator thinking oh I think I've just
00:50dislocated something. Then the next thing I heard was paramedics. The beautiful words that they used
00:55was it's a catastrophic injury and you've broken your leg. I was brushed down to emergency because
01:00I had what they call compartment syndrome where my leg was swelling and if they didn't do surgery
01:05I could lose my leg. 65 I believe stitches in my leg. To say I've never experienced such pain in
01:12my life and I've had two children was an understatement. What I've got to say is with
01:16the insurance I didn't have to worry because they contacted me immediately and contacted Andrew.
01:21They looked after me. I had a private room. Everything was organised. Look I can't fault it.
01:26When certain bills came to us at home all we had to do was then forward them on to OneCover
01:33and who told us whatever happens just send it to us we will look after it. I felt terrible.
01:39It ate me up I would say. You know it's because of me that she was in there. It should have been me
01:46not her. I know it's an accident but it doesn't make it any easier for you. This incident has not
01:52stopped me planning or booking holidays already and I have two trips. We have two trips planned
01:58like one to Japan. Can't wait and I have the travel insurance purchase with OneCover already
02:05and the policy in my hand with my documents at home. By purchasing OneCover travel insurance for
02:12approximately $350. The bill that we were advised was approximately $400,000 so for us
02:21to be able to pay that ourselves we basically would have either take a mortgage on the house
02:26or sell the house. Just when you do the maths to go overseas without insurance for us it was
02:32OneCover. You need your head read to this sorry because it's a no-brainer.
