Martin Dempster Hero World Challenge final round
Transcript
00:00Hello, it's Martin Dempster, the Scotsman Golf Correspondent here, coming to you from
00:07Albany Golf Course in the Bahamas as the sun sets at the end of the Hero World Challenge,
00:16the event hosted by Tiger Woods in aid of his foundation. It's been won for the second
00:24year running by world number one Scottish Effler and boy, what a year it's been for
00:32the American. He won eight times on the PGA Tour and was also the gold medalist in the
00:40Olympics in Paris. Throw in the couple of hours he spent in a jail cell in Louisville
00:49after being arrested on his way into the PGA Championship and it's certainly been quite
00:58a year for the American. He's by far the game's most dominant player at the moment and a closing
01:0663 here today to win by six shots showed just how far in front he is of the chasing pack.
01:18The American won the Masters for the second time in three years back in April. Other wins
01:25this year included the Players' Championship, the Tour Championship and as I said, he's
01:31the Olympic gold medalist. Bob McIntyre, on his debut in this event, he finished seventh
01:38in a 20-man field and the open man has every right to feel delighted by that performance.
01:45This is not an easy golf course but from start to finish, Bob looked very comfortable
01:51in this elite field and was never out the top ten all week and picked up three shots
01:59over the closing stretch to cap off a year that saw him win for the first time on the
02:05PGA Tour in the Canadian Open with his dad Doogie on the bag, then of course winning
02:10the Scottish Open, Genesis Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club. This is the final
02:16big event of the year. There's PGA Tour Q School to come next week in Florida. Three
02:21Scots are in that field, Martin Laird, Sandy Scott and Callum McNeil, while the Ladies
02:27European Tour qualifying school is also to come before Christmas kicks in. To keep up
02:34to date with everything in the golf world, log on to Scotsman.com or buy the Scotsman.
