01:16The insurgent commander posted on Telegram that opposition forces are headed to Damascus

01:31In their lightning-fast offensive, the rebels managed to move south and capture Hama, before
01:36starting an advance on the city of Homs.
01:40On Saturday, insurgent fighters claimed to have seized most of the country's south, as
01:44government forces withdrew there, sending large numbers of reinforcements to defend

01:51If the insurgents capture Homs, they would cut the link between Damascus, President Assad's
01:56seat of power, and the coastal region where the president enjoys wide support.
02:07A Russian attack on Ukraine's southeastern city of Zaporizhia has killed at least nine
02:11people and wounded close to 20 others.
02:14Footage released by Ukraine's state emergency service showed firefighters putting out blazes
02:18on Friday night in the aftermath of the deadly attack.
02:22Authorities say the attacks targeted a service station which was destroyed and caused damage
02:26to several nearby homes, businesses and vehicles on the street.
02:31Air raid alerts sounded across the city from 5 p.m. local time, as Ukraine's air force
02:36warned of more potential attacks.
02:38The bomb struck unsuspecting civilians, many who were just trying to have a peaceful holiday,
02:43as the country observed St. Nicholas Day.
02:46Russian forces also targeted a residential building in the neighboring city of Kriviari.
02:52Two people were killed in that attack, and a dozen more were injured.
02:56Local officials condemned the offensive and accused Russia of targeting civilian positions
