Russian President Vladimir Putin has revealed the "Oreshnik," a powerful missile system aimed at countering NATO's influence. The unveiling has heightened tensions, with Belarus calling for the deployment of additional heavy weaponry to strengthen their military collaboration and deterrence capabilities. This development highlights the deepening ties between Russia and Belarus, driven by increasing concerns over NATO's expanding presence along their borders.

00:00President Lukashenko, colleagues, first of all, I would like to thank President Lukashenko
00:10for this invitation to visit Minsk and for the traditionally warm reception that our
00:17delegation was given.
00:22A lot of work had been done by experts and governments on both sides, and this session
00:31has been very productive.
00:35There are still issues that we need to work on, but still all our previous meetings had
00:45been aimed at fixing some outstanding matters given the extraordinary range of our cooperation.
01:01By this moment, almost all issues have been agreed upon and coordinated.
01:08Of course, there's still work to be done, and we're going to do that, and I'm sure we'll
01:16reach outstanding results because there's willingness and enthusiasm on both sides to
01:22continue this constructive work, and that means solutions will be found.
01:30And I'm sure President Lukashenko will agree with me here that there are no issues that
01:38would cause any dissatisfaction on either part.
01:43There are no such issues right now.
01:46There are areas to work on.
01:50We have just signed two very important treaties on the single market for electric energy and
01:58on joint guarantees of security.
02:01This treaty is of fundamental importance.
02:06Both these treaties are of fundamental importance, and this treaty on guarantees of security
02:17outlines Russia's and Belarus' obligations to ensure each other's security using all
02:24means and instruments available.
02:31So we went forward to satisfy the President of Belarus' request to deploy tactical nuclear
02:39weapons in Belarus, and the latest state-of-the-art systems as Oreshnik, they have no rivals in
02:49the world.
02:50If used in clusters, they are comparable to nuclear weapons, but they are not weapons
02:57of mass destruction.
03:00First of all, unlike weapons of mass destruction, these are high-precision weapons.
03:04It's not a carpet weapon.
03:11And if used in multiple quantities, in one, two or three complexes, they deal as much
03:21damage as nuclear weapons, but it doesn't pollute the territory.
03:26There is no radiation fallout afterwards because there is no nuclear component in their
03:31warheads.
03:36And as for the possibility of deploying a weapon as advanced as Oreshnik in Belarus,
03:45since we have signed a treaty to guarantee each other's security using all means and
03:51weapons available, I think deployment of complexes like Oreshnik in the territory of
03:57Belarus is possible.
03:59That's one.
04:01Number two, I think this will be possible in the second half of the next year, as the
04:11production, the mass production of these missiles is ramped up, and as these missile complexes
04:20are fielded by the Russian Strategic Missile Services, and there are a number of technical
04:28matters to be settled by specialists and experts, and that's determining the minimum range,
04:38considering the security priorities of the Republic of Belarus.
04:44That's up to experts, and I think...
04:50And this is going to require minimum spending, considering the fact that Belarus still has
05:00infrastructure left over from the Soviet Union, from the times of Soviet Union, and I think
05:09this will require minimum spending.
05:14And of course, despite the fact that these missiles will be part of the Russian missile
05:21complex of the Russian Federation, determining the targets on the territory of possible adversary
05:36will remain at the discretion of the military and political leadership of the Republic of Belarus.
05:42This is obvious, so we are going to discuss that later, and I'm sure that specialists
05:54understand this.
05:57The shorter the range, the more powerful the warheads, the payload.
06:07I'm perfectly satisfied with this response.
06:10And I look forward to the second half of the next year.
06:19By that time, according to our preliminary estimates, we will have started mass production
06:29of those missiles, and they will be fielded by the Russian Strategic Missile Services,
06:34and we will start deploying them in the territory of Belarus.
06:38Don't miss out.
06:39Stay tuned to OneIndia.com for more updates.
