00:00It's not the weather we were expecting for the reopening of Penrith Beach, but we are
00:05seeing very small crowds starting to trickle in now that it's reopened for its second session.
00:12It was open last year from December to April with 200,000, more than 200,000 people making
00:18their way through those months.
00:20There are calls in the community to see it open all year round.
00:23We spoke to the Penrith Mayor a little earlier, he's saying he hopes to see it opened all
00:28year round and to have an agreement with the State Government and the private owners of
00:33this land to ensure that this facility is open for people of Western Sydney.
00:38Obviously there were calls much earlier last month because we were seeing 40 degree days
00:44here in Penrith and a week of 35 degrees, so people were really feeling the heat and
00:50unable to access the facility.
00:52The beach stayed closed and people in Penrith are made to travel around an hour and a half
00:57to reach a beach or the closest beach next to them.
01:00So this will be open until April, but those discussions will be continuing.
