00:00Internationally acclaimed action movie Topak by Arjo and Julia, part of MMFF 2024.

00:11After the successful international showing at the 78th Cannes Film Festival and the 76th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland,
00:19the action thriller film Topak directed by Arjo Atayde and Julia Montes will be screened here in the Philippines.
00:26At the press conference of Kamakailan, a warehouse that was used as one of the locations of the film,
00:33the cast gave a glimpse of what the audience should look forward to.
00:38It's about time that we be more honest in the topics that we tackle, especially in the films.
00:43And this really makes me proud that I hope everyone appreciates the film, how we made it.
00:51We will fight in other countries.
00:53No matter how gory, gritty it is, it explains how human each character is.
01:01And that's what we want people to see.
01:04The story is about Miguel, an ex-special forces operative with post-traumatic stress disorder
01:10who tries to save a woman who is in the hands of a corrupt death squad police who has a connection to a drug cartel.
01:19Meanwhile, the director, Richard Somes, also shared his gratitude to all the actors who became part of the film.
01:28I can never imagine in my life directing these dramatic actors in our country to do such thing as an action drama and all.
01:39I'm always in awe working with them because they give 100% from the rest of my actors.
01:47TOPA is the official entry in the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival and was chosen to be screened in cinemas on December 25.
01:55It received good and positive feedback from the international audience, especially in the Cannes and Locarno Film Festival.
