Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has expressed disappointment over the poor cleanliness standards in the Royal City of Klang.
Sultan Sharafuddin on Thursday (Dec 5) urged the Klang Royal City Council and the state government to take immediate action to address the flood issues in Selangor and implement effective measures to improve cleanliness in the city.

00:15We are proud to see the beautiful history of Raja Klang,

00:24I can see that there are many areas in Raja Klang that are still dirty and not organized,
00:33including the river that is contaminated with waste.
00:38I have received a lot of complaints from the public,
00:44especially from tourists in and outside the country,
00:48including cruise ships that enter through the main entrance gate of Kelang Port,
00:55which indicates that the view of Kelang Port and the city of Raja Klang
01:01is so contaminated with waste and very disgusting.
01:07It is useless for us to be proud of the massive development,
01:12even though we have failed to implement and overcome it.
01:22It should be remembered that the river that is filled with waste,
01:30the clogged canals that are not taken care of properly,
01:35has caused frequent floods in the city of Raja Klang.
01:41I have repeatedly advised the local authorities and the state government
01:48to take effective and thorough measures
01:55to overcome the frequent floods in the city of Raja Klang
02:01and other areas in Selangor.
02:05However, the floods still happen again and again every year,
02:13and sometimes it gets worse.
02:16We cannot use the excuse that the floods are caused by climate change
02:23or a high level of rainfall due to the act of God.
02:30We are also tired of reminding this issue to the local authorities and the state government every year,
02:38yet they do not care.
02:45Why can't we solve this problem?
02:49Doesn't the state government want to think about the difficulties of the people out there
02:55who are forced to endure the floods
03:00and face the destruction of their lives and their safety
03:06which are threatened and difficult to carry out their daily tasks?
03:12I believe that nothing is impossible
03:16and there is no problem in this world that cannot be solved
03:21if we are serious and sincere in carrying out our duties and responsibilities.
03:29I want to give birth to a feeling of sadness for the people
03:35and for me to be able to share their stories
03:39due to the floods that often occur every year.
03:43I understand that the RM300,000 has been allocated
03:48to solve the floods in the short and long term.
03:53However, it seems that there is no result at all.
03:59I want to emphasize the excuse of a contractor
04:04who is given the responsibility to carry out the project
04:08to solve the floods.
04:11This contractor has failed to carry out the trust that has been given.
04:15I believe that the state government should appoint a more responsible contractor
04:21who is able to deal with the floods.
04:26Don't we want to learn from the past mistakes,
04:31especially the floods in December 2021
04:36which almost devastated some areas in Selangor
04:41and try to fix it for the benefit of the people?
04:46That is why I am here today to urge the Mosque of Bandaraya in Raja Klang
04:53and the government of Selangor to take immediate action
04:57to deal with the floods in Selangor.
05:01The budget allocated to deal with the floods
05:06must be fully utilized for the welfare of the people.
05:11I want an urgent plan of action
05:16and a task force to solve the floods in Selangor.
05:21I also want to take immediate action
05:25to improve the cleanliness in Bandaraya in Raja Klang.
05:31I want to see the results in the near future
05:35and I don't want to hear any more excuses
05:40if the problem is not solved.
05:44To conclude my speech,
05:47let us all pray to Allah
05:51to protect and preserve this state of Selangor
05:57as a developed and prosperous state
06:00so that the people can live in peace and harmony.
