00:00Ralph, how are you doing, pal?
00:01I'm good, thank you.
00:02Lovely to see you.
00:03I've got to say, before we start on this, congratulations on smashing 2024.
00:07I just want to know, like, how visceral was that outpouring of love with the announcement
00:11of your involvement in Marvel in such a role like that?
00:14All I could see on the internet were people going, how brilliant is it this guy's getting
00:18a chance at something that meaty and that big?
00:20Yeah, it was really humbling because I was a bit like, you know, when they announced
00:25that, how's that going to go down?
00:26Because there was a lot of big names that had been attached and castigated, that kind
00:27of thing.
00:28And I was expecting people to go, sorry, who?
00:29But yeah, it was lovely.
00:30Very heartwarming and gave me a lot of confidence going into the job, to be honest, knowing
00:31that, you know, it seems that there's a fair proportion of fans like the idea of me doing
00:32it.
00:33There's a good number of people out there, myself included, who've been watching you
00:34for many years, and I've always enjoyed what you've done.
00:36I'm very much looking forward to seeing what you do with that.
00:37Let's get on to it.
00:38I'm going to start with you, Ralph.

01:28I'm going to start with you, Ralph.
01:29I'm going to start with you, Ralph.
01:30I'm going to start with you, Ralph.
01:32And he's changed a lot and not changed at all at the same time.
01:36You know, he's still got the same fierce intelligence and intensity that drives everything he does.
01:42But the way he approaches things, this is just on a bigger scale than it was when we worked on The Witch.
01:49The same attention to detail, passionate research into every nuance of everything in the script.
01:58It's exactly the same.
02:00So yeah, he's a wonderful director to work for.
02:02This is the first time that people might go in, not just with expectations of him and his very particular directorial style,
02:09but obviously the story and the plot.
02:11It's the first time he's taken on a story that we feel we're aware of.
02:15Was that a similar feel for you?
02:18Did you go back and watch the other two movies?
02:21Or did you kind of know this is going to be so unique that it would be a completely pointless venture?
02:26And what should we do as an audience to prepare for this kind of movie?
02:30Well, it needs to be better.
02:32I think it will just grab you.
02:34I'd say watch his other work.
02:37Yeah, because they've got the same costume designers, the same production designers, the same direction of photography in all the movies.
02:45So there's definitely a style and an immersive world that they all create together that you see in this one.
02:53I'll do my due.
02:56I'm here with my wife.
02:57It's nice to see him with his clothes on.
02:58Yes, that's true.
03:00And finally, you get to dance around creatively with the great Willem Dafoe in this,
03:07and it feels almost theatrical in the sense that it's almost like watching theatre at times, the scenes you guys have together.
03:14How delicious was that as an actor to be able to be on set and play in that kind of work?
03:21Yeah, I mean, from the moment that Robert cast Willem in The Lighthouse,
03:25I kind of put two and two together and realised that I'd be working with him on Nosferatu when it eventually happened.
03:33And I've been looking forward to it ever since.
03:35I mean, he's been an absolute hero of mine as an actor since long before I decided to act.
03:41I remember watching him when I was at university before I'd even thought of acting.
03:48So, he's always been a hero of mine.
03:52So, to actually not just work with him, but have a partnership on screen with him is just...
03:57I skip into work every day.
03:59Mate, well, it was great to see. I've really enjoyed this.
04:01I'm sure it's going to scatter bejesus to a lot of people over the holiday season.
04:04And good luck with the next 12 months, man.
04:07Good luck with the ride. Really looking forward to seeing how that pans out.
04:09Absolutely.
04:10Cheers, buddy.
