00:00Maybe a little influence from your old Uncle Sanguine could help adjust your course a bit.
00:06Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're looking at the 10 weirdest unlockables in Elder Scrolls
00:10games.
00:11For this list, we'll be looking at unlockables and quest rewards that are both unique in
00:15their gameplay applications, and weird or unusual from a narrative perspective, and
00:19only from the mainline single player games.
00:22So yeah, sorry to all of you Elder Scrolls Online fans out there.
00:33Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:38the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:41Filter of the Phantom, The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim
00:50If you've come across Shroudhearth Barrow near Iverstead in The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim,
00:55you've most likely encountered the Lifting the Shroud side quest.
00:59This quest sees you clearing out the titular crypt of the ghost, which we use in quotes,
01:03of Wendelius Gatherion, that's actually just a squatter who's alive and well and
01:07has taken residence.
01:08When you complete the quest, not only do you get some loot and a new word of power, but
01:12also a unique potion called the Filter of the Phantom.
01:15This little concoction does absolutely nothing but give your dragonborn a transparent blue
01:19spectral appearance.
01:20While yeah, sorta useless, it is a fun way to add to immersion and roleplay certain builds.
01:30Benerys Manor, The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Upon first entering the city of Anvil in The
01:39Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, the Hero of Kvatch will most likely come across an unassuming
01:44house on the outskirts of town.
01:46You can buy it from Velwyn Benerys at the Count's Arms Pub for 5,000 septims, which
01:50also starts you off on the Where Spirits Have Leased side quest.
01:54When you spend your first night in the spooky house, you'll be attacked by ghosts and
01:57have to fight your way down to the basement.
02:06The rest of the quest takes you on an adventure to break the seal and release the spirits,
02:10and the reward is a large, fully upgraded player home.
02:12While player homes aren't uncommon in Elder Scrolls games, Benerys Manor is a fun haunted
02:17house style side quest that is worth doing in every playthrough.
02:26Horksbane, The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim Available only through the Dragonborn DLC
02:40For Skyrim, Horksbane is an unassuming steel maze with a weird and unique enchantment.
02:44It does extra damage against the Frozen North's walrus-like animals, Horkers.
02:48There's no side quest associated with this weapon, but getting to it can be a bit of
02:52a chore.
02:53You'll have to make your way to the DLC exclusive region, Solstheim, and from there
02:57to Horker Island, off the northeastern coast.
02:59Look for the corpse of the dark elf, Saiden, and near it you'll find Horksbane.
03:03This silly little maze does 20 extra points of damage against Horkers, making the nearby
03:07encounter against Lord Tuskay Breeze.
03:10Is this weapon completely useless in the long run?
03:12Well, yes.
03:13Is it a fun and worthwhile trinket to collect on subsequent playthroughs?
03:16Also, yeah, definitely get it.
03:23Staff of Hazadoki, The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim
03:32The Staff of Hazadoki is an awesome staff that has both offensive and defensive capabilities.
03:37Available through Skyrim's Anniversary Edition Creation Club content and via a side quest
03:42in The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind.
03:50Probably the most actually useful weapon on this list, the Staff can send enemies flying
03:55with a magical force push-like effect, can create a magic damage resistance ward when
03:59not attacking, and even fills an empty soul gem upon defeating an enemy.
04:03Or in a way the most useful unique effect, the Staff of Hazadoki makes a great and versatile
04:08tool for any magic-focused playthrough.
04:18Sanguine Rose, Varius
04:24Available in almost every mainline Elder Scrolls game, Daedric Prince Sanguine's Rose Staff
04:29is the physical encapsulation of the deity's hedonistic tendencies.
04:32In Skyrim, you'll go on a rollicking, drunken adventure around the countryside before finally
04:37being rewarded with the unique weapon.
04:45Sanguine Rose takes on the appearance of, well, I mean, you probably guessed it, a rose,
04:50and summons a Daedric being to fight for you for a limited time, good for distracting enemies
04:55while you wail away at them.
04:56While certainly not the most useful item, it's definitely one of the most unique looking.
05:08Boots of Springheel Jack, The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion
05:20The focus of the Ultimate Heist part of the Thieves Guild questline, the Boots of Springheel
05:24Jack are a unique set of stompers that grant the wearer plus 50 in acrobatics.
05:31Additionally, if your health or acrobatics stat is high enough, you can survive the long
05:44fall portion of this quest, instead of having them get destroyed in the fire.
05:48You can keep the boots for as long as you'd like, provided you don't give them to the
05:51Gray Fox at the end of the quest.
05:53Its best use, however, is walking and leaping across bodies of water, making Traversal a
05:57breeze.
06:10Goblin Totem Staff, The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, and The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim
06:15One of our personal favorite weird items, the Goblin Totem Staff, shows up in both Oblivion
06:20and Skyrim's Anniversary Edition upgrade.
06:22In Oblivion, these are typically held by goblin shamans scattered throughout Cyrodiil,
06:26and in Skyrim, through the Creation Club quest, Blue in the Face, found in Riften.
06:30This quest also rewards with a goblin followers named Gog.
06:33In either game, the staff is presented as a regular old stick with a severed goblin
06:37head adorned in the end, and does shock damage based on the player's level, making it a
06:40powerful and immersive weapon for shaman or mage playthroughs.
06:49Extra Comfy Pillow, The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind
06:55Another weird, fun, and useless item, the Extra Comfy Pillow in Morrowind is available
06:59after progressing through a chunk of the Fighter's Guild questline.
07:03During the quest where you must kill rats and draw rain Thalyss' house, you'll notice
07:06an abundant amount of pillows.
07:08Continue the quest until you arrive at the other side of the island to get the Extra
07:12Comfy Pillow as a reward upon completion.
07:15This unique, miscellaneous item does absolutely nothing but changes the in-game text when
07:19you sleep to, your sleep is very restful on your Extra Comfy Pillow.
07:23That's pretty nice.
07:24In subsequent games, feeling well-rested means you've slept longer, and increases the amount
07:28of experience gained for your skills.
07:30Could this goofy little side-easter egg have been the precursor to this mechanic?
07:34Well, let's sleep on it.
07:44The Fork of Horripilation, The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, and The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim
07:54One of the artifacts associated with the Daedric Prince of Madness, Shaogorath, more on him
07:58in a bit, the Fork of Horripilation, also known as Forky, because why not, appears in
08:03Morrowind, Oblivion's Shivering Isles DLC, and Skyrim's Creation Club.
08:07In each game, the Fork is relatively useless and usually tied to a bigger quest reward.
08:11These quests all have something to do with Shaogorath, whether it's unlocking the staff
08:15of Shaogorath in Skyrim, or the skill rewards in Shivering Isles.
08:18Regardless, it's still a fun and unique one-handed weapon that is hilarious to use to kill your
08:23enemies.
08:29The Wabbajack, Varius
08:37You all knew this one was coming, come on now.
08:40Another one of Shaogorath's Daedric artifacts, the Wabbajack's staff is far and away the
08:44weirdest and most popular unlockables in The Elder Scrolls games.
08:48Present in almost every entry, the Wabbajack embodies what the Daedric Prince of Madness
08:51is all about.
09:00When used in combat, the effect it produces is entirely random, ranging from transforming
09:05an enemy into a mudcrab to instantly killing them, or even replacing them with, uh, well
09:09hang on, let me check my notes here, uh, cheese, aw yeah, heck yeah.
09:13Including this unique weapon in your playthroughs is sure to create some hilarious combat scenarios,
09:18and we highly recommend it for any unserious builds.
