00:00Your Highnesses, As-salamu alaykum.
00:28It is my wife and myself the greatest possible pleasure to welcome you to Buckingham Palace
00:34this evening on your first state visit to the United Kingdom.
00:39If I may, I would particularly like to express the United Kingdom's deepest gratitude for
00:46your tireless mediation efforts over the past year in pursuit of peace in the face of unbearable
00:55heartache and suffering.
00:58In these most desperate of circumstances, Qatar's continued toil, perseverance and
01:06diplomatic efforts are quite simply beyond compare.
01:12In the rapidly advancing fields of science and technology, British and Qatari researchers
01:19and clinicians are working together on cutting-edge projects that have the potential to transform
01:28our world.
01:30This includes work on genomics, where experts are developing unique models to identify rare
01:39disease at an early stage.
01:41It is a wonderful privilege to be here this evening.
01:46I thank you for your gracious invitation to this dinner and for the friendship that
01:53you and the Queen have shown me, my wife and all the Qatari people.
02:01The personal connections between our families are strong and long-lasting.
02:08Your mother, the late and cherished Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, told my father that she saw
02:17the Qatari people as old and valued friends, and expressed her hope that the UK would be
02:27a home away from home for them.
02:31And it certainly is.
02:33The United Kingdom and Qatar are not only friends, but partners.
02:38Through our joint diplomacy efforts, cultural exchanges and economic investments, we shape
02:46the global landscape.
02:49I would like to commend Your Majesty for your steadfast commitment and unfailing leadership
02:57in promoting interfaith dialogue, peace efforts, and protection of human rights.
