00:00Hi I'm Theo and this is People on the Street. Today I'm out in Manchester asking people about the Royal Mail
00:04and that's because it looks set to be sold to a Czech native.
00:07There are two ways of looking at it. One is that someone is coming in and helping to prop up a very important part
00:12of our society and our community in terms of posting parcels and letters back and forth.
00:16The other is that it's a sign of failure that we need to rely on foreign money to come in and rescue it.
00:21I just generally don't like when public things get privatised. I've never seen it worked.
00:26It is a British institution really so it's a bit sad that it's being sold off.
00:31But then do we have any guarantee that this Czech billionaire is going to make it more efficient?
00:37And what's he said he's going to bring into it? How's he going to improve it?
00:41So it's a bit worrying isn't it? How's it going to change? And change is always a bit scary.
00:45To be honest I'm not really fussed about what's accounted as British at that point.
00:49I mean a lot of our economy is dependent on foreign money from what I'm aware of at least.
00:55I work at a bar and post for myself. It's German beer mostly.
