00:00The administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is also trying to end corruption in the government.
00:07In fact, some have been legislated to stop it.
00:11This is what Clay Zell Fardino has to say.
00:15The war against corruption is far from over.
00:18While the problem of corruption is not yet solved,
00:23President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is doing his best to fight corruption.
00:30At the 5th State Conference, the United Nations Convention Against Corruption,
00:34or UNCAC Implementation and Review,
00:36the Executive Board called for the service of integrity
00:41that the new Philippines is promoting.
00:44We must shift away from merely enforcing compliance with laws, rules, and regulations
00:50to steering our people towards the practice of integrity in their daily lives.
00:55Integrity that is rooted in justice, tolerance, partnership, and brotherhood.
01:02These need to be reinforced and sustained.
01:05In order for the government to establish justice and responsibility to the people,
01:10President Marcos has legislated the New Government Act.
01:14This is the use of electronic systems in the bidding
01:17or purchase of products and services of the government.
01:20This shall be used by procuring entities, suppliers, manufacturers, distributors,
01:25contractors, consultants, and service providers
01:28to further increase efficiency, improve compliance,
01:32minimize the risk of corruption, reduce paper usage,
01:36and create a more detailed audit trail.
01:39The Electronic Freedom of Information Platform,
01:43which advocates transparency,
01:45Using the e-platform, the details of the project and program implemented by the government are clarified
01:51while there is an opportunity for the people to see the information they should know.
01:58But this does not end the initiatives of Administrator Marcos.
02:03Earlier, the Philippines reiterated its commitment to UNCAC
02:07to fight for trust through a manifesto
02:11centered on integrity, transparency, and accountability
02:16that will continue to build and improve the policies and procedures to fight corruption.
02:22We continue to collaborate on the international front,
02:27emphasizing the importance of global partnerships in combating corruption.
02:32By learning from and working with other nations,
02:35we strengthen our anti-corruption mechanisms
02:38while reaffirming our place as a proactive member of the global community.
02:44Together, these interconnected efforts form a united approach
02:49to fostering a government that is efficient, accountable, and reflective of a nation
02:55committed to placing honor and integrity over self-interest.
