00:00Hundreds of Catholic devotees climbed Guatemala's volcano Volcán de Agua on Saturday in a procession
00:09to return the statue of Christ of the Heights to its chapel in the volcano's crater.
00:14The faithful, mostly residents of towns at the volcano's base, began their ascent early
00:19Saturday, carrying the statue on their shoulders up the steep slopes.
00:24Community volunteers took turns bearing the statue, expressing gratitude for blessings
00:29they attribute to the Christ of the Heights.
00:33Every year, locals from neighboring communities visit the chapel where the Christ of the Heights
00:37statue has stood for 48 years seeking rain, bountiful harvests, and help with personal
00:43troubles.
00:44The statue was temporarily removed for restoration in July of this year due to its deteriorated
