00:23Because of their intervention,

00:24the product or service of a business improves

00:28so that its quality improves and helps in sales.

00:31Just like the Life Giving Products and Specialty Corporation here in Cagayan, De Oro City

00:35whose main product is bread.

00:37According to Gilbert,

00:39the help of the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program or SETUP by DUST

00:45greatly improved their packaging and production speed.

00:48Under this program,

00:50MSMEs are encouraged to use technological innovations

00:53to improve their product or service.

00:56Before, I didn't have a SETUP.

01:01I only had 40 employees.

01:03Now, I have 57 regular employees.

01:06Another help is the recipe of the Food and Nutrition Research Institute or FNRI

01:11for the nutrients that they make together

01:14in the Feeding Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development

01:18and the Department of Education.

01:20In terms of nutritional value,

01:22it's really proven.

01:24If a child eats stunted or malnourished food,

01:28after the period of time that they should be fed,

01:33we are assured that the child will return to normal.

01:36At the same time, DOST continues to promote the use of bamboo

01:40especially in the middle of the age of climate change.

01:42Here in Cagayan, De Oro City,

01:44this industry is still alive.

01:46The main product of this factory here in Cagayan, De Oro City

01:50is bamboo

01:52which is a good alternative so that the trees won't break.

01:56From here in Cagayan, they produce different products.

02:00It became possible through Engineered Bamboo

02:03where the bamboo is processed

02:05so that the wood supply will be stronger.

02:07With this factory,

02:09we want to bring back the timber industry

02:12without cutting trees.

02:14So we cut, we are using grass, bamboo, which is sustainable.

02:19With the application of science and technology,

02:21we are turning it into beams and columns and panels.

02:24So basically, we can create buildings

02:27with a wood finish that is beautiful

02:30but without cutting trees.

02:33DOST was helped by the Forest Products Research and Development Institute, or FPRDI,

02:39in their testing to ensure that their product is durable.

02:43Meanwhile, DOST successfully completed

02:46the National Science, Technology, and Innovation Week

02:48held here in the city.
