00:00The National Commission on Senior Citizens has passed the Joint Memorandum Circular
00:07for the benefit of the elderly.
00:10This is what Gav Villegas wrote.
00:14It has been only 21 years since Mother Mercedes
00:16and one of the things that she always advised is to pray in the chapel.
00:21And it seems that she heard her prayer
00:23because she is one of those who will be given the benefit of the government,
00:27especially to those like her, Nuna Jenarian.

00:32because we don't have money to buy medicine here.

00:38This is also what her sister, Nani Rosario, who is 82 years old, said.

00:51The National Commission of Senior Citizens
00:54together with the Department of Foreign Affairs,
00:57Department of Migrant Workers, Department of Interior and Local Government,
01:01Department of Social Welfare and Development,
01:03and the Commission on Filipinos Overseas
01:05are the Joint Memorandum Circular
01:07which is based on institutional arrangements
01:10for the benefit of Filipino octogenarians,
01:13nunagenarians, and centenarians.
01:16The Joint Memorandum Circular states that
01:18a strong collaboration and partnership
01:21can bring equality and proper service to the elderly.
01:26Under Republic Act 11982
01:28or the amendment to the Centenarians Act of 2016,
01:31Filipinos aged 80, 85, 60, and 65
01:37who live in the Philippines or overseas
01:40can receive P10,000.
01:42Filipinos over the age of 100
01:45can receive P100,000
01:47and a letter of congratulations from the President.
01:50For NCSC OIC Mary Jean Loreche
01:54they want to make it easier
01:55to provide the benefits
01:57to our grandparents.
01:59We should not make them poor
02:01because this is a benefit
02:03that they deserve.
02:06Hoping that people like Mrs. Mercedes
