Met Police steps up patrols as London’s Christmas shoppers warned to be alert

00:00Millions of Londoners, as we approach the Black Friday sales, as we approach Christmas, will be shopping.
00:05That's fantastic for our retailers, but it poses challenges because we know, I'm afraid,
00:11organised criminals, opportunistic criminals take advantage of the vast numbers of people going about their business,
00:17often with overcoats to their wallets, so valuable possessions can be at easy reach of thieves.
00:23And so what we're doing is to make sure Londoners can be as safe as they can be,
00:27to make sure that there's minimal shoplifting from our shops.
00:32We're increasing patrols across London, working closely with the Met Police Service.
00:38They'll also be playing close teams operating. There are more targeted operations.
00:42To enhance that, we have four mobile police stations going about at London.
00:47The one thing I would say is Stratford is one of the safest places to ever come and travel.
00:52My advice is just a bit of your own crime prevention advice.
00:57Just be mindful of who's around you, how you walk, what equipment you're carrying.
