00:14Audrey Aptivo is leading the Department of Transportation in the Regional Initiative

00:19for a better management and regulation of vehicles in Asia.

00:24This is followed by the 15th Public and Private Joint Forum in Asian Region held in the country.

00:29Its goal is to address important issues in transportation.

00:37According to Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, the Philippines is promoting

00:42vehicle safety, road safety, accident prevention, carbon neutrality,

00:47and regulation of automotive industries in the region.

00:52The Philippine Road Safety Action Plan is part of the country's initiatives

00:57that aims to reduce the number of accidents in the road by 35% by 2028.

01:05This includes the strict implementation of roadworthiness guidelines for vehicles,

01:12driver education, and pedestrian safety.

01:17In addition, the Transportation Department is also promoting the use of electric vehicles

01:22as well as the construction of electric railway systems to reduce carbon emissions.

01:28The Transportation Department believes that it is important to harmonize the guidelines

01:35to ensure a safer, more efficient, and safer transportation not only in the Philippines

01:41but also in the whole region of Asia.
