00:00Game 2 of the Turkey Day Tripleheader.
00:04Not exactly the most desirable matchup.
00:08Maybe preseason it did with the Giants and the Cowboys in Dallas.
00:13But man, have both of their seasons gone off the tracks.
00:17Let me start with the Cowboys side of things, Cam,
00:19because Jerry Jones did his weekly appearance down in Dallas radio this morning on The Fan.
00:25And the guys asked him about McCarthy, whose contract's up at the end of the year.
00:29And it's funny, Cam, people just assume that he's not going to be the coach after this year.
00:35He's won before this year. He'd done pretty good, at least winning 10-plus games and getting him to the playoffs.
00:40This is his first bad year in Dallas, but people just assume he's out.
00:45Jerry actually said, Cam, he's not ruling out that McCarthy could be extended after the season.
00:51Said he's done a great job and he's a Super Bowl-winning coach.
00:55Are you buying that form of nonsense that Jerry is spewing all over Dallas, that McCarthy—
01:02I am.
01:03I actually do, too.
01:04People think he's just going to get rid of this guy? Are you kidding me?
01:07Jerry Jones does whatever Jerry Jones will do. It doesn't matter.
01:10He'll talk a big game, they won't pick up a free agent, McCarthy stays.
01:14Who the hell knows what this guy's going to do?
01:16I actually—you know what? If there was a bet at long odds, Carver,
01:19I think me and you would say McCarthy stays.
01:22Give me a big enough plus number, I'm in.
01:25See, here's the thing, Cam, that people have to—
01:29and there are some guys out there that are desirable, I guess you could say, at the end of this season.
01:36Namely, of course, Mike Vrabel and Bill Belichick as being the guys that everybody kind of said,
01:41that's who I want to coach my team.
01:43Not everybody wants to work for Jerry.
01:46Nope.
01:47Okay? Not everybody wants to work for him.
01:49And I don't think that those two guys would necessarily want to work for Jerry.
01:54And if you get rid of him, who are you—
01:57you know, Jerry might prefer an experienced Super Bowl winning coach,
02:03whether you like him or not, over the next hot coordinator who's never done it.
02:09You know, Jerry might prefer that.
02:10He'll also want a yes man. Right, Carver?
02:12And a yes man, which is Mike.
02:15Yes, Jerry. Yes, Jerry. Whatever you say, Jerry.
02:18Now, look, that's why Garrett was there for a while, because Garrett was a good yes man.
02:23And eventually, you just couldn't go any further.
02:26I don't think that they've reached that with McCarthy yet.
02:29This is his first bad year.
02:31And people will say—you could say, at least Mike would make the case,
02:36I've had a billion injuries this year.
02:38I lost my quarterback.
02:39I lost Parsons for the first six games in the first half of the season.
02:43I lost this.
02:44What do you want me to do?
02:45You didn't give me anybody in free agency.
02:47I had no running backs.
02:48I had no anything.
02:49So I think Mike actually might have a case if he sat down with Jerry and said,
02:53this is why.
02:54And Jerry would probably go, oh, yeah, you're right.
02:56So we'll keep him back.
02:57I'm with you, Cam.
02:58I lean to, he's back more than he's gone.
03:02And I know that's probably surprising for a lot of people, but that's how I lean.
03:06Now, the other side of the coin is the Giants.
03:08Oh, here we go.
03:09And they got all kinds of problems.
03:13And they've had a lot of these.
03:15But one of the most embarrassing losses was Sunday at home against the Bucs,
03:19where they just got smashed 30 to seven.
03:22And after the game, Cam, we played a clip of neighbors yesterday,
03:25here, me and Joe.
03:26And there were several other players who kind of voiced their opinion about
03:31the team.
03:32A bunch of them called them soft.
03:34Neighbors was upset that, you know,
03:36he wouldn't get the ball until it was 30 to nothing.
03:39Lots of players voicing their displeasure in the locker room.
03:44What does Brian Dable think about all that?
03:46Again, when you lose a game like that, Art, there's frustration.
03:50Certainly, you'd like to keep it in-house.
03:52But you understand, I've been doing this for a while.
03:55And there's, you know, there's conversations that you have to have, you know,
03:59if comments like that are made.
04:01And I respect the opinions of the players and of the coaches.
04:06And we'll work as hard as we can to get this fixed.
04:11I don't believe you.
04:13That's basically, let's translate what he just said, Cam.
04:17I can't do anything about it, is what he just said.
04:20There's nothing I can do about it.
04:22And he's going to be finished.
04:24What's this guy doing?
04:26Like, he goes for two when you shouldn't go for two.
04:28You are actually in games, you lose games.
04:30You've done everything wrong, Dable.
04:31Like, what do you want the players to do?
04:33You said that Locke was going to be the backup.
04:35You put in Tommy Cutlets because he's popular in the city.
04:38Like, what the hell are we doing here?
04:40Like, what is the goal?
04:42The goal, like, I get it.
04:44Lose games, get a better draft pick.
04:46But you still got to compete.
04:47You can cover numbers.
04:48I don't know what the deal is, Carver.
04:50What do we do with this game, honestly?
04:52This is the one where, you know, they say, TV off, fellas.
04:55It's Thanksgiving.
04:56You're like, thank God this is the middle game.
04:58Click.
04:59If you had to, like, not watch a football game for a while, it's Dallas and the Giants.
05:02But I don't know what to do.
05:04Like, should Dallas be a favorite?
05:06Like, what a hard game.
05:08I don't know what to do.
05:09Dallas is three and a half point favorites here in this game now.
05:14Now, we also have some giant quarterback situations.
05:18Dable said today that DeVito's throwing arm is sore.
05:22And he's not 100% sure if he's going to play on Thursday, which, of course,
05:26would then mean Drew Locke would play.
05:30I'm trying to decide if that's better or worse, Cam.
05:33Oh, it's better.
05:34That Drew Locke's going to play.
05:35I think it's better.
05:37For maybe guys like Malik Nabors, it's probably better, I think.
05:41But three and a half and 37 and a half.
05:46Cooper Rush and Tommy DeVito, if it's those two guys, you know,
05:52sometimes you get two bad quarterbacks, two bad teams,
05:55and suddenly you get a crazy high-scoring game, Cam.
05:58That does happen sometimes.
06:00I'm going to tell you, if it's Drew Locke, he's playing for his future.
06:03It's not about the Giants.
06:04It's about him.
06:05Get me another backup job somewhere else or keep me in the damn league.
06:09Like, you know, you're being pushed behind DeVito.
06:12I think that's why I would bet on the Giants.
06:14But who knows?
06:15We don't know what we're going to get from Locke.
06:16But you're right, Carver.
06:17You get two crap teams with a total that low, you might even want to go over.
06:20But I don't feel comfortable laying points with Dallas.
