00:00Take my hand, we're off to Never Never Land!
00:05Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're looking at times throughout Kristen Bell's career,
00:11away from her acting roles, when she stole our hearts and
00:14reminded us why she's one of the industry's most loved performers.
00:18There's a sloth here, it's close, it's gonna happen.
00:23Number 20
00:24The Saga of the Reclining Chair
00:26It's my favorite time of year, Lazy Boy's having a sale again.
00:31Ever since we watched Joey and Chandler get Lazy Boys on Friends,
00:36we've desperately wanted those comfy looking recliners.
00:39In 2017, we got to vicariously live through Dax Shepard as he showcased his on Instagram.
00:46However, Bell, his wife, wasn't too keen on the chair addition, at least where Shepard put it.
00:52I can just get him to turn it.
00:54Yes, it should be angled towards like to be a conversation area,
00:58because he said you can see, because I said,
01:00where does Kristen watch TV if you're in the middle of the room?
01:02I'll show you where I watch TV.
01:04He'd moved it from his office to the living room to enhance his viewing experience.
01:08However, Bell detailed in her posts on The Tale that putting it in the middle meant two issues.
01:14One, it didn't fit with the decor.
01:17Two, it severely damaged her viewing experience from the sofa.
01:21People even chose sides in the argument, making it even more adorable.
01:25And then I realized, I just have to sort of drop back and stop mentioning it.
01:31He'll come to his own conclusion.
01:32And then a couple months later, sure enough, he's like,
01:35you know what, would you mind if I moved the Lazy Boy out of the living room and put it in my office?
01:39Number 19, the Jersey Turnpike.
01:42She does love to dance.
01:43Is she a good dancer?
01:44She's a pretty decent dancer.
01:46She points at the jam box in our living room when she wants to dance.
01:49Wait, you have a jam box in your living room?
01:51Of course.
01:52In 2014, to promote her work on Frozen, Bell popped up on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
01:58Soon the conversation turned to her one-year-old daughter.
02:01Your daughter will grow up and watch this movie and go,
02:04my mommy was in this amazing movie.
02:07You gotta be proud of that.
02:09It makes me very proud.
02:10After talking about Bell feeling like a food truck with her child's constant demands for milk,
02:15she spoke about the little one's love of dancing.
02:18In particular, the Jersey Turnpike, made famous by Jersey Shore.
02:22Without a moment of hesitation, Bell demonstrated her kid's skills there,
02:27and then perfectly with an emotionless expression on her face.
02:30The actor also mentioned that she and Shepard have enthusiastically
02:34made their daughter's dance party into a family affair.
02:37So now we both do it with her because she starts it,
02:40and I think it started because she didn't have a ton of balance.
02:42Right.
02:43And then now we've encouraged it, and that's like her go-to move.
02:46Number 18.
02:47Interrupted Intimacy.
02:49Once you have kids, finding a moment to get intimate with your partner can be a mission.
02:53If you're not exhausted from parenting all day,
02:56you have the many humans following your every move around the house.
03:00In 2017, Bell detailed her embarrassing intimate story on The Talk.
03:05While jumping bones with Shepard, their children wandered into the bedroom.
03:09What did you say or do?
03:10It's how they were made.
03:11It's okay.
03:12It's okay, everyone.
03:13It's how they were made.
03:15Immediately, the reluctant couple stopped the deed and asked them what they wanted.
03:19And with a little white lie,
03:21they sent the kids out of the room again so they could continue where they left off,
03:25minus the audience.
03:26And we just said we're gonna,
03:28mommy and daddy are just gonna take a nap for a couple more minutes and then...
03:33Number 17.
03:34Supporting Dax's Sobriety.
03:36After struggling with various substance issues that began as a teenager,
03:40Shepard did amazing by getting clean.
03:43In 2018, Bell posted a heartwarming message on Instagram to celebrate her husband's
03:4814th sobriety anniversary, where she praised him, clearly showing the love.
03:53Even when Shepard relapsed in 2020, Bell stood by him and helped him through it.
03:58You know, new things in place to make sure it doesn't happen again.
04:02And he's, you know, we're going back to therapy.
04:05And I just, I love that he's addicted to growth.
04:09And I will continue to stand by him because he's very, very worth it.
04:13The duo speaking honestly about their experiences has been invaluable to many,
04:17who can relate to that struggle.
04:19Respect and support aren't one way either.
04:22As Bell explained on The Jennifer Hudson Show,
04:25when watching the first episode of Nobody Wants This with Shepard,
04:28he was just as invested in the on-screen romance as everyone else.
04:32No jealousy, just praising his wife's work.
04:36Grabbed my arm and he was like,
04:38I want you to kiss him so bad.
04:41So he coached you to it.
04:44Yeah, he loved it.
04:45Number 16.
04:46Animal Lover
04:47When a celebrity shows a smidgen of love towards animals, they instantly become beloved.
04:52Bell takes her passion to another level.
04:54A vegetarian since she was 11,
04:57she became vegan for a time before going back to veggie during her first pregnancy.
05:02You can make like crazy delicious sides and even as a non-vegetarian,
05:07forget that the meat has even been made.
05:09Bell and Shepard solidified their vegetarian status
05:13by being featured in PETA's Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrities of 2013.
05:18Away from her diet, Bell is a big dog fan.
05:21On top of owning several of her own,
05:23some of which she rescued from serious catastrophes or who were injured,
05:27she also worked with several dog and animal charities to promote their work
05:32and even fostered animals too.
05:34You'll find a lot of loving pets waiting for a home of their own,
05:38just like I found Lola.
05:40And we will be very happy if you adopt a new family member.
05:44Number 15.
05:45Helping with a Promposal
05:47Sarah, there's something I wanted to ask you, but I didn't know the words.
05:54So Kristen Bell is going to help me.
05:56With the usual star away,
05:58Bell stepped up to the plate in 2017 by guest hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live,
06:02and she knocked it out of the park by making it memorable for some students
06:06by being Blonde Oprah.
06:08After playing the Fast and the Frozen-est with two girls,
06:12dressing them up like Anna and Elsa,
06:14Bell distracted them and told us what was happening.
06:17It was a setup to help Michael ask Sarah to prom.
06:20Michael and Sarah have never been on a date before.
06:22Sarah has no idea Michael is asking her to prom.
06:25This could go terribly wrong,
06:28but you've got to admit that it would be great TV, right?
06:33After Sarah brought back Michael hiding in a Kristoff costume,
06:36he unmasked.
06:38Bell serenaded her on his behalf by asking her to prom
06:41to the tune of Do You Want to Build a Snowman?
06:43He thinks that you're really cute.
06:48He's asking you to be his prom date
06:52in front of millions of people.
06:56Before she'd even finished the song,
06:58Sarah agreed.
06:59Cute.
07:00Number 14.
07:02The friendship with Craig Ferguson.
07:04For the audience,
07:05what entices a talk show host and a celebrity's interaction
07:08is when it's obvious there's a real friendship behind the scenes.
07:12Truth.
07:12That's good.
07:13Who do you like?
07:13Why are you saying truth?
07:14Is that a new thing that the kids are doing?
07:16No.
07:16You've done it twice now.
07:17I don't know.
07:18No, you're doing it.
07:18You're trying to make it happen, aren't you?
07:20It's like truth.
07:21Yeah, like leg warmers, and I tried to bring those back.
07:23That didn't work.
07:27You forgot to wear them.
07:28You were too busy.
07:28After first arriving on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson in 2005,
07:33Bell would go on to be a regular guest,
07:35racking up nearly 30 appearances before Ferguson left in 2014.
07:40The two gelled together so well,
07:42bringing funny warmth whenever they were on screen.
07:45You got your pilot's license.
07:46I did, yeah, yeah.
07:46Congratulations.
07:47Yeah, yeah.
07:48Do you want to go out and fly around with me?
07:49Absolutely.
07:50Really?
07:50Yeah.
07:51Are you nuts?
07:52Yes.
07:53Highlights of their time together include Bell
07:55jealously criticizing Ferguson's sidekick, Jeff Peterson,
07:59and when she got the host to consume a fake mustache she found in the green room.
08:04Using her pregnant belly as a drum,
08:06Bell even popped up in Ferguson's farewell show for a musical montage.
08:10Number 13.
08:12Promoting Mental Health Treatment
08:13While we've come a long way as a society,
08:16there's still a taboo when it comes to talking honestly about mental health issues
08:20and seeking treatment.
08:21I think that anything that's taboo and hard to talk about
08:24should be some of the first priorities you should be talking about
08:27with the support systems in your life.
08:29I wish that I had known as a person in the public eye
08:33to talk about it publicly at an earlier date.
08:37When a celebrity takes a stand,
08:39speaking about their struggles and getting help,
08:41it inspires others to do the same.
08:44In 2016, Bell spoke to Sam Jones from off-camera
08:48about suffering with anxiety and depression since her college days.
08:52As a result, she sought help, and has been taking medication for it ever since.
08:56I present this very cheery, bubbly person, but I also do a lot of work.
09:01I do a lot of introspective work, and I check in with myself when I need to exercise,
09:05and I, you know, got on a prescription when I was really young
09:10to help with my anxiety and depression.
09:12After also writing a piece for Time magazine,
09:15Bell has spoken several times from the heart about her struggles,
09:18including a dark period during the pandemic.
09:21In 2023, she became the first mental health ambassador for telehealth company H.E.R.S.
09:27I just don't want anyone to feel like they don't have a support system.
09:31So if we collectively, as a society, like self-care,
09:35this whole idea should also include caring about each other.
09:40Number 12.
09:41Making a girl's dream come true.
09:44Hi Avery, this is Princess Anna of Arendelle.
09:47I just wanted to call and say hello.
09:51So, hello!
09:54In 2015, the Huffman family received dreadful news that their daughter, Avery,
10:00was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, an inoperable brain tumor.
10:06To help lift her and her family's spirits,
10:09Bell got into her Anna character from Frozen and left a heartwarming voicemail
10:14in which the Huffmans recorded their daughter's reaction.
10:17After introducing herself and wishing Avery well,
10:20Anna then had a conversation with her sister Elsa
10:23before announcing that the brave youngster is now an honorary princess of Arendelle.
10:27Wow, that's so exciting! I think you'll make a great princess.
10:32Avery's response to Bell's hello and her giggles of excitement throughout
10:36would melt anyone's heart.
10:38Sadly, in 2016, Avery passed away from her illness.
10:43Number 11.
10:44Entertaining a nursing home during a hurricane.
10:47In 2017, the Category 5 hurricane Irma struck.
10:51While in Orlando, Florida, filming Like Father,
10:54Bell was stuck at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort
10:57as she waited for the storm to subside.
11:00When thousands of nursing home residents were transferred there too,
11:03she stepped up in a big way by entertaining them.
11:06What do they like? Bingo. They like bingo.
11:08Got a bingo ball. Started calling bingo.
11:11I also, because I'm very nosy, went right to the director of Atria Senior Living and I was like,
11:16OK, so I have 80 able-bodied people who are doing a whole lot of nothing. What do you need?
11:21On top of hosting bingo, chatting, and eating with the residents,
11:24Bell also performed for them by singing.
11:27She even sang with one lucky chap, John, who she called her side piece.
11:31To top it off, the actor dusted off her frozen vocals
11:34when she performed for evacuees at a nearby Meadowoods Middle School.
11:48Bell was in amazing form during this hurricane, which you'll discover more about later.
11:53Number 10. Dressing up as Elsa.
11:56For the first time in forever, I will be right here.
12:02It could be argued that Kristen Bell's biggest role to date was when she gave voice to Anna
12:07from Frozen. Rather than be too on the nose by dressing as her own character for Halloween,
12:12though, she went as Ice Queen Elsa. She apparently did it under extreme pressure from her daughter,
12:18who, adorably, was also going as Elsa for Halloween. Though we'd love that mom acquiesced
12:23to her daughter's demands, it's Bell's hilarious and angsty Instagram post that
12:28really made this a winner. There's no grin in sight, but we love it.
12:32The real kicker here is that apparently her kids don't even like Frozen that much.
12:40Number 9. When she hosted the SAG Awards.
12:43Leave it to Kristen Bell to own being the first ever host of the SAG Awards.
12:48Right out of the gate, she threw in some self-deprecating, and relatable,
12:52humor about being a Disney fan when she was a kid.
13:06In just her opening monologue, she managed to cram in a jab at First Lady Melania Trump,
13:11some sly TV references, and an important message about the wave of change in 2018.
13:23Over the course of the night, Bell reminded us why we love her so much,
13:28whether she was praising Greta Gerwig or shouting random words like fire pit and meat city.
13:39But let's not forget, she knows what the people want in their heart of hearts.
13:52Number 8. When she and Dax did Africa.
13:55Kristen and Dax are a comedic one-two punch the likes of which few couples,
13:59celebrity or otherwise, can compete with.
14:09Before introducing children into the mix, the two took a trip to Africa,
14:13and to honor the occasion, they basically turned the entire thing into one big music
14:18video for American rock band Toto's hit from the 80s, Africa.
14:27Their over-the-top dance moves, lip syncing, and unabashedly campy aesthetic
14:32certainly did the original video proud, while producing a bona fide viral hit of their very own.
14:43Number 7. Her performance in Never Have I Ever.
14:47Ellen DeGeneres had an uncanny knack for getting
14:57guests to open up about things they didn't mean to.
15:08In this hilarious segment, Bad Moms co-stars Kristen Bell and Mila Kunis get surprised by
15:13hubbies and ex-punk co-stars Dax Shepard and Ashton Kutcher,
15:18and then proceed to play a game of Never Have I Ever.
15:21Though all parties involved were funny, Bell won the day by showing a complete lack of shame
15:26about what her and Dax have done together, while also throwing him under the bus with some faux
15:30drama.
15:44Number 6. When she and Dax played Game of Thrones.
15:54The comedic duo and real-life comedic partners in crime strike again,
15:59this time giving us their best impersonations of some notable characters from Westeros.
16:03Playing their way through the hit HBO series intro song,
16:06Bell and Shepard frequently switch up instruments and characters to hilarious effect.
16:11They give us a little taste of incest, a quick duel between Brienne and the Hound,
16:15and perhaps most hilariously, a pair of sparrows, where you can really see Bell's
16:21commitment to the gag. Though it might be short, it packs a lot of entertainment value.
16:30Number 5. Her rescue of Josh Gad's family.
16:33Though Kristen Bell most often owns our news feeds with her hilarious antics,
16:38she's also got a heart of gold. She proved this beyond a shadow of a doubt when crisis
16:43struck in Florida, where her Frozen co-star Josh Gad's family lives.
16:58Stuck in Tampa, where they had gone in hopes of avoiding Hurricane Irma's destructive path,
17:02they found themselves in harm's way when the hurricane changed directions.
17:06Luckily for Josh Gad, he had an ally in the area at the time who was able to pull some strings,
17:11Kristen Bell. A true friend and real-life hero, she assured Gad that she would take care of them,
17:16even if it meant sharing her own room.
17:27Number 4. When she got real candid about motherhood.
17:36Kristen Bell isn't interested in acting out a picture-perfect life for the cameras.
17:42She and Dax Shepard are often put on a pedestal because of all the fun they have together,
17:47but she's made a point of stating that they have problems just like any other couple.
17:51Another way in which she has been refreshingly honest is when she discusses having children.
17:56She clearly loves her kids, but as she made hilariously clear when talking to Ellen,
18:06it's not all smiles and baby pictures. She compared visiting the show to, quote,
18:11being on vacation, voiced her appreciation for the audience being able to wipe themselves,
18:16and shared tidbits about her drugged-out birthing experience.
18:26Number 3. When she performed a Frozen-Metallica mashup with Dave Grohl for his kids.
18:42When the iconic Foo Fighters frontman guest-hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live,
18:46dressed as David Letterman, a mustachioed Kristen Bell, in a full Tom Selleck costume,
18:51performed the song, Do You Want to Build a Snowman? from Frozen,
18:55before transitioning it into Enter Sandman by Metallica.
19:06Honestly, it's hard to say which one she did a better job of.
19:09Though jamming with Grohl would be a dream come true for many,
19:12the iconic rocker claimed that the privilege was all his,
19:15given that his kids apparently love Kristen Bell and Frozen.
19:19Of course, her own hosting stint on the show was equally awesome.
19:32Number 2. Her uncomplicated wedding.
19:35Though it can be a lot of fun to read about crazy, over-the-top celebrity wedding ceremonies,
19:40we've got a real soft spot for stars who buck the trend and choose to keep it simple.
19:49First, these two refused to get married until same-sex marriage was allowed.
19:57How cool is that?
19:58When the time came, they kept it super casual,
20:01tying the knot with a bare-bones ceremony at the Beverly Hills County Clerk's office.
20:06The icing on top of this wedding cake is Bell's ability to laugh at herself,
20:20which she reaffirmed by sharing this throwback Thursday pic of her crying
20:23during the ceremony as Dax laughs at her.

20:42Number 1. The sloth.
20:49Speaking of Kristen Bell crying, her obsession with sloths and her reaction to the very
20:54possibility of being in the same room as one just might be some of the best content available
20:59on the internet. It all started when Dax decided to surprise her with a visit from a sloth to
21:04celebrate her 31st birthday. Though the video itself is priceless, she literally gets choked
21:18up just talking about it. Then, of course, at a later date, Ellen brought out Lola the sloth
21:24to meet Bell in front of the studio audience. And sure enough, Bell loved it.
21:35If you could bring back any TV show that Kristen Bell starred in,
21:40what would you pick? The Good Place, House of Lies, or something else? Let us know below.
21:46I hate to see you walk through the final door at the edge of existence,
21:50but I love to watch you leave. There we go.
21:54Do you agree with our picks? Check out this other recent clip from Ms. Mojo,
