00:00Welcome back to the early line live right here on this Tuesday
00:08on Sports Grid week number thirteen and fourteen around
00:12the National Football League. Not important just because of
00:15the playoff race or the home stretch of the NFL regular
00:18season but also beginning this week in the NFL. It's time for
00:22my cause my cleats where players around the National
00:25Football League display what means the most to them on their
00:29cleats for any given Sunday in the National Football League.
00:33So now we are very pleased here on the early line to welcome on
00:37Tampa Bay Buccaneer Rashad White to TEL to talk about the
00:41cause that is near and dear to his heart. Rashad. We
00:45appreciate the time on this Tuesday morning. Thanks for
00:47being here. No, thank you guys for having me on. It's an honor
00:52Rashad. You are partnering with a cause for my cause my cleats
00:55known as Care Portal. Can you explain to our viewers what is
00:59so important about the work that Care Portal is doing and
01:02what drew you to this organization? Yeah, I mean for
01:06me, I would say the biggest thing is just everything that
01:08Care Portal stands for and for obviously like you said the
01:11viewers that don't know what Care Portal stands for Care
01:14Portal is a great huge organization that came together
01:19that started to help families in need families stick together
01:25instead of that was going through crisis that was going
01:28through certain situations instead of and keeping them
01:31together instead of you know, their families breaking up and
01:34kids having to go to foster care and things like that. So
01:38Care Portal stands for a lot of things and they definitely help
01:41out the underprivileged families and things like that
01:44on certain things that they can't help or or they can't
01:48you know come together with to stay together. So that
01:52means a lot to me. Obviously the way I grew up. Obviously I
01:56had a family community though and it was huge on helping
02:00each other, but I know a lot of families out there that kind of
02:03don't have that or you know trying to move away and start a
02:07new life for their kids and things like that and parents
02:11and so that Care Portal helps them stick together stay
02:13together and obviously that's huge instead of the kids going
02:16to foster care and you know, they're breaking up
02:19households. It's gotta feel great right Rashad. I mean the
02:24NFL does such a great job. Yeah, they're strict with
02:27uniforms and everything else along what you can or can't
02:29wear, but them giving you the opportunity to kind of
02:33represent who you are and your background and what means a lot
02:37to you. It's it's gotta be pretty cool that they give you
02:40this opportunity every year. Yeah. I mean, you know you
02:44blessed for this opportunity. You blessed to support an
02:46organization and things like that that you know, like you
02:50said starting to show that's dear to your heart. So the NFL
02:53yeah shout out to them of course for letting us be
02:56creative on on these couple of weeks to you know shout out
03:00organizations and things that matters and that aligns with
03:03you know players and what we have going on outside of
03:06football. Speaking of the creativity Rashad, do we have
03:11the design locked down for the Care Portal cleats that will be
03:14on display here in the NFL season? Yeah. Yeah. We got all
03:18that man and shout out to you know, amazing artist named
03:21Ari, you know, she did a great job man. You know
03:26communicating and getting the cleat right and making this
03:29perfect perfect as it can be, you know, and yeah, it's gonna
03:33be a great display for sure. Alright Rashad, let let me dive
03:38in here. Great win on Sunday, of course against the Giants
03:42here, but moving forward now coming out of the bye week.
03:46What what's the mood in the locker room right now for you
03:48guys? I see it as a very favorable schedule moving
03:51forward for you guys, but it's one game at a time. What's the
03:54mood in the locker room like now? Yeah, like you just said
03:59man one game at a time. We all locked in, you know, we all
04:03bought in and obviously we want to make a run and a push, you
04:07know and handle everything on our side and and do our job
04:11that we can to try to get in the big dance. So that's what
04:14we focused on, you know, yeah, we have a solid schedule ain't
04:19no game easy in this league and we understand that and
04:22obviously we we behind the wall so we can't take no game or
04:26nothing for granted. So, you know, obviously, like you said,
04:29we got a big division game coming up no matter, you know,
04:32what Carolina is or what they look like with the record
04:34shows division games. I mean, you know, and obviously we got
04:38a former coach over there. So, you know, we know they gonna
04:41come out ready to play and we just know we gotta, you know,
04:44come out ready to play too and can't get out work. So, like
04:47you said, man, it's one game at a time and one game at a time
04:49mentality when we get to that game is one play at a time and
04:52everybody focus on, you know, doing their job and coming
04:55together to try to make a run and a push. Everybody into the
04:59end zone in East Rutherford on Sunday, Rashad White, a score,
05:03Bucky Irving, a rushing score, Sean Tucker, a rushing score,
05:08and even the quarterback Baker Mayfield and we see the
05:11bravado from Baker in the Garden State Rashad. When Baker
05:16Mayfield came to you guys at the start of last season, what
05:19was his mentality like as a leader and what it has meant
05:22for your organization? Man, I think the biggest thing Baker
05:27came over, he just being himself. Obviously, at that
05:30time when he was in a quarterback battle with Cal and
05:34you know, he just came over. He's a great human being, great
05:36guy, you know, stayed the course and you know, he never
05:40wavered and you know, it was just awesome to see for us. So,
05:44I think he just came over, brought who he was, stayed true
05:47to himself, the charisma, the swagger, things like that. And
05:51obviously with the team we had and what we got going on, you
05:54know, we loved him and obviously it has worked out for
05:57him. So, you know, you can't be nothing but happy for the man.
05:59I gotta ask you Rashad, I'm a big Todd Bowles fan and you
06:06know, some people say, listen, what you see is what you get
06:09with him. You said the team is bought in. How much of that is
06:13because of Coach Bowles? Yeah, you know, Coach Bowles is, you
06:17know, even kill man. You know, I always preach. It's never too
06:21never too high, never too low, you know, and you know, it's
06:24gonna be up to the moment they gonna love you. The next moment
06:29they gonna hate you. That's what we all know. It's like to
06:36never stay, never get out of character, stay true to
06:38himself. Like you said, he is who he is and you know, for us
06:42as a team, we understand that and that's what give us poises
06:46in certain games and big games and things like that and you
06:49know, at the end of the day, I would say he do everything he
06:53can to try to put us in a situation and for us to win and
06:56at the end of the day, the players gotta go execute.
07:00Quickly, Rashad, 20 seconds left in this segment. Can we
07:03get a prediction from a former Sun Devil? Arizona State winning
07:07the Big 12? Yes, for sure. For sure. Most definitely winning
07:12the Big 12. I see it. I see it as well. Rashad White, we
07:17appreciate the time. Thank you for joining us here. Make sure
07:19to check out the Cleats Supporting Care Portal for Mike
07:22Collins, Mike Cleats. Rashad, thank you again for the early
07:25linebacker. Thank you.
