00:00The first thing I asked her, why do you want to marry somebody who is so much older than you?
00:03And the first answer she gave me was that, why would you want to marry somebody who is so much younger than you?
00:07That's much worse.
00:30I was really shocked when I heard you were getting married.
00:43Yeah.
00:44Because I knew it was something that you were planning.
00:46I know you were deeply looking into a serious relationship.
00:49I've spoken to you about it.
00:50Yeah.
00:51Yeah, exactly.
00:52But when you finally told me that this was going to happen, and very rarely, and I'm
00:56proud of you that actually that you married from outside of the industry.
00:59That doesn't happen ever.
01:00Yeah.
01:01So nobody knows really what transpired and happened.
01:04So Meera, I'm going to ask you from your perspective.
01:07See, a movie star's perspective is always about themselves.
01:10So let's find out from you, what happened?
01:13How did all this happen?
01:15Actually, we met through family and both our families follow the same path.
01:22And so do we.
01:24Right.
01:25Our path is very important to us.
01:27And our faith is very important to us.
01:29So I think it's a mutual thing between both of us that we respect in each other.
01:36And I think that's what makes us get along.
01:39So when you were told that you are going to be meeting a movie star.
01:42I wasn't told.
01:43Oh, you weren't told.
01:44In fact, the first time we were having lunch, I was invited to a family friend's house for lunch.
01:50Very impromptu.
01:52And I see mom and dad there and his parents there.
01:56And I'm wondering, like, what's going on?
01:58You know, I was like, OK, fine, whatever.
02:00And I sit down on the table to have lunch.
02:02I'm with my mom and my sister.
02:04And I start off bashing Bollywood.
02:06I'm just like, you know, what is all of this?
02:08What are these item songs?
02:09What are these?
02:10What kind of lyrics are they having?
02:11And, you know, I'm sure in their head, they were thinking like, oh, my God.
02:15Because they knew what was happening.
02:17They knew they were coming to see me.
02:18OK.
02:19But you didn't know.
02:20I had no idea.
02:21So were you being cool about bashing Bollywood?
02:23Or you generally have serious feelings about item songs and objectification of women?
02:28I'm not answering that question anymore.
02:29OK, you're not.
02:30OK.
02:31All right.
02:32But why?
02:33I'm being safe.
02:34You're being safe.
02:35You're not allowed to be safe on the show.
02:36OK.
02:37So you met you met you met Pankaj Kapoor and his wife Supriya.
02:41You know what her mom thought?
02:42What?
02:43Her mom actually thought that it's for my younger brother.
02:45Oh.
02:46Because.
02:47For Rohan.
02:48For actually Rohan.
02:49Because he's the same age as Meera.
02:50Oh.
02:51So they never imagined that it was for me.
02:52It was like, Shahid is eliminated based on age.
02:55Age.
02:56That's not fair.
02:57No, but I mean.
02:58My parents have the exact age difference.
03:00Age is never a factor, is it?
03:01Yeah.
03:02Come on.
03:03It's just a number.
03:04Now you know.
03:05Yeah.
03:06It's just a number.
03:07This, your own flirting, we can do a little later.
03:08Why?
03:09With your own wife.
03:10Can you tell me what happened?
03:11I need to know.
03:12You want us to flirt with you also?
03:13I don't mind.
03:14Now I'm done with everybody flirting with me now.
03:15Nothing happens, they just flirt.
03:16Anyway.
03:17What do you want to know?
03:18I want to know when you decided that you were going to get married to somebody.
03:22You were told that there was this beautiful girl.
03:24Yeah.
03:25Whose family and her follow the same path as you.
03:27Yeah.
03:28Religiously, spiritually.
03:29Yeah.
03:30And you decided literally with an open heart to go ahead with this or give it a shot?
03:33So I had been single for about four years.
03:36Right.
03:37I hadn't been in a relationship.
03:38And I had looked around enough.
03:41Wondering whether I'll find somebody that I can spend my life with.
03:44Yeah.
03:45And I didn't find anybody in the people that I had around me.
03:49Because you had dated most of them.
03:51I hadn't dated most of them.
03:53But I think I just, I'd finally found myself.
03:56Right.
03:57After a few years of being in relationships.
03:59And I think when you're in relationships in your 20s most of the times,
04:01you're a mixture of your partner and you and their friends become your friends
04:05and their likes become your likes.
04:07It kind of, you know.
04:08And then after that when I had spent a lot of time on my own,
04:11I kind of knew what I liked and what I didn't like.
04:13And I didn't see anybody that I felt that I could spend my life with.
04:17I couldn't find.
04:18And I was looking.
04:19Right.
04:20Because I was open.
04:21Because you really wanted to be in a relationship.
04:22No, and I was in my 30s.
04:23And I was like, okay, I should get married.
04:24I should have kids.
04:25And I want all that.
04:26I've come from a, you know, my parents separated when I was very young.
04:29So it's something that's very important to me.
04:31To settle down, to have a family.
04:32To have a solid relationship.
04:34A solid home.
04:35And I craved it.
04:36I was lonely.
04:37I was really lonely when I used to go back home.
04:38So, you know, I craved finding somebody who I can share things with.
04:41So when this kind of conversation happened,
04:43that would you be open to meeting somebody?
04:45I was like, yeah, why not?
04:47Because I've, I've, I mean, I've looked around and I've not found anybody that,
04:50or I haven't fallen in love.
04:52It just hasn't happened.
04:53So why not?
04:54I mean, it's just another way of meeting somebody.
04:56But then when I was told that, you know, she's 21 years old,
04:59I was like, are you insane?
05:00That doesn't make any sense.
05:01Yeah.
05:02My feelings exactly.
05:03That when you told he was 32.
05:05Yeah.
05:06I was actually 34.
05:0734.
05:08He's the same age as my eldest sister.
05:11And I call her Didi.
05:12So I was like, you know, I think that's going to work.
05:16I have to tell you this.
05:17So, Rohan.
05:18Yeah.
05:19We were sitting on a dinner table and he found out,
05:21because he and Alia were in the same school, I think.
05:23Yeah.
05:24So he found out that I'm doing Shandar with Alia.
05:25Right.
05:26And he looked at me and he was like, listen,
05:27I understand that you're doing a movie with a girl who's like,
05:29more than a decade younger than you.
05:31But don't ever get married or have a girlfriend who's that young.
05:34Because I will be very uncomfortable with that.
05:36It is kind of weird.
05:37So a few months later, I was, you know, meeting Meera and it all worked out.
05:42And.
05:43Okay.
05:44No, don't go so far.
05:45So now you met Meera where?
05:46This house when she came in.
05:47You didn't know.
05:48So I went to Delhi.
05:49Yeah.
05:50I went to Delhi to meet her.
05:51We met on the 30th of November.
05:52And we.
05:55So we met with family and stuff.
05:57And then obviously we were told.
05:58Does it really happen like that?
06:01I mean, it wasn't so.
06:02Was it that drastic?
06:03It wasn't Viva.
06:04It wasn't Viva.
06:05But, but, yeah, I mean, essentially you need to spend time together.
06:08So where did you go?
06:09We went to a friend's house, a farmhouse.
06:12This was in Delhi.
06:13She stays in my house.
06:15She stays in this area called Chattarpur.
06:16And we went to, you know, a friend's house.
06:18And then we were left alone to, you know, discover each other.
06:21And, you know, the first thing I asked her, why do you want to marry somebody
06:24who's so much older than you?
06:25And the first answer she gave me was that, why would you want to marry
06:28somebody who's so much younger than you?
06:29That's much worse.
06:31And so we started off by, you know, addressing that.
06:34It was almost like we both shared the same suffering.
06:38You know, like, why are we being put through this and all?
06:41And then we spent seven hours talking to each other.
06:44Seven hours.
06:45And we didn't even realize.
06:46And we didn't even realize.
06:47So that was the first.
06:48So we were like, okay.
06:49I sat in a room with a girl who's like 13 and a half years younger than me.
06:52And we have nothing in common.
06:53Right.
06:54And we can talk for seven hours.
06:55Right.
06:56And that was excellent.
06:57I thought that was a great start.
