00:00How do you feel about winning the Skegness Business Awards?
00:07It feels absolutely amazing. Thank you everybody that voted. I want to dedicate this to all
00:13the volunteers and all the amazing people that volunteer at the storehouse, people that
00:17spend their time helping us make a difference. Thank you very much.
00:21I'm Geoff Short from Bema State Agents here in Skegness and it's really rewarding to know
00:27that we've got this far and it's nice to be recognised for all the hard work that goes
00:31in over the course of the year. So we're really pleased to be here and very grateful to have
00:35been put forward as a finalist. So, yeah, fingers crossed.
00:39What's it like to win the Skegness Business Awards?
00:42Actually a bit of a shock because we were up against such strong other nominees and
00:49other people. We didn't expect it at all so it's absolutely fabulous.
00:56It means the absolute world to us. Every single member of our team at Fantasy Island
01:00works so relentlessly hard throughout the whole year, including through the winter months
01:04when the site is shut. So it just means everything to us. We try so hard to be inclusive to everyone
01:10and help families make lots of memories and it means the world to us that locally we're
01:14being seen to be doing what we're doing and that we're doing it good.
01:20How does it feel to be a finalist in the Skegness Business Awards and what does it mean to your
01:24team?
01:25So for me at Taylor's Hair Studio, we've won two twice in 2020. It's been absolutely incredible
01:31to be nominated for a third time and it allows me to bring people like Lizzie, who's just
01:36started renting a chair within my business, the opportunity to showcase what my world
01:40is like. So Lizzie, how do you feel working within Taylor's?
01:44Yeah, within two weeks of me starting there, I've already learnt so much. Just like the
01:49basics, bringing it all back to basics and everything like that. And seeing the hair
01:55industry from another insight as well, not just a general salon, but with what Daryl
02:01does worldwide now. So it's a really, really good opportunity.
02:06And without the Business Awards, I wouldn't have Taylor's Hair Studio. So thank you Skegness
02:10Business Awards.
02:11Our business is hair, beauty and furniture, and it's a caravan across the street. My dad
02:15first started it 30 odd years ago. So we've both been brought up with it. From a very
02:21young age, sort of done everything. And yeah, we just feel really overwhelmed by it all.
02:28We're absolutely delighted to be finalists. Like Laura said, it's a small family business
02:35and we've never been to an awards ceremony before. We're just, yeah, we're overwhelmed
02:41to be here really. And we're really looking forward to having a great night, celebrating
02:45with everybody and looking forward to the results.
