01:31I remember watching cricket with my father when we had only black and white TVs.
01:39I was a school boy in Bombay, and we used to have a little black and white set and we
01:46would be watching Gundappa, Vishwanath and Sunny Gavaskar.

01:51I'm talking about from those days.

02:22The level of fitness, concentration, commitment that our youngsters today are showing is just

02:47been witness to cricket in terms of anecdotes from my father's time of the Holkar greats
02:53to my father's period when he used to be playing in Gwalior and Indore and all over the place.
02:59And as a kid, I used to play with him at railway stadium when he was railway minister.
03:02Every week, every Sunday was a cricket match.
03:05The commitment was still very much there.
03:08The concentration on form, line and length, practice was still very tremendous.
03:15Yes, there is technology that has come to play and there is science that has come to play now.
03:20Those elements were not there in those days, but not to say the sportsmen in those days
03:25were even iota less committed.
03:28In fact, even more committed.
03:30It was used to be a dharm, you know, families and all of that came second.
03:39And I'm talking about the days, Smita ji, when there was no money in cricket.
03:44There is a lot of money in cricket today.
03:46In fact, I would say that there's too much money in cricket today.
03:49I'm talking about the days when you had players going out there and I'm not kidding you, literally
03:55taking a hathoda and keel and, you know, hammering in those matting wickets before you start
04:01play and you start practice.
04:04And you didn't have the equipment and you didn't have all that exposure, but they would
04:07be playing day in and day out.
