00:00Multiple of our peers are dead.
00:02I could have been there.
00:03It's something that my generation has been preparing for
00:07since elementary school.
00:08It was never a question of if, but when.
00:11Today we're talking about my school,
00:13but tomorrow we could be talking about yours.
00:23My two friends came over,
00:24we were gonna watch The Bachelor
00:26and then I was gonna go study for a communications exam.
00:29But instead we spent the entire night
00:32listening to the police broadcast,
00:34listening to the news,
00:36spam texting every single class group chat,
00:39club group chat, friend group chat we have,
00:41crying, shaking,
00:45and just absolutely not knowing what's gonna happen.
00:48MSU is my family.
00:51That is my community.
00:52That's my family.
00:54And this isn't the first shooting that I've been through.
00:58I know it's not the first shooting
00:59that other people have been through.
01:01And for some, it's not even the first school shooting.
01:05And I can't even fathom
01:12how that's feeling.
01:14And if this is your first,
01:17I'm sorry that we've had to go through this at all.
01:20We're taking things as they come.
01:22We're trying to look on the bright side.
01:25We're checking in with people that we love.
01:27We're checking in with our classmates and our friends
01:29and our faculty members.
01:30But it's terrifying and it's hard.
01:36And it's absolutely atrocious
01:40that I already have to be thinking about politics here
01:43and the fact that this has happened
01:44because time and time again, we're not protected.
01:48And to think that my school,
01:50my home for the past four years,
01:52is just another bullet point on the long list
01:56of communities that have been affected by gun violence.
02:00It's,
02:03it's hard.
02:04There was a four hour, five hour period
02:07where there was just complete chaos across campus
02:12of people not knowing where the shooter was.
02:15There was false reports.
02:16And I don't think that's something
02:18that we're talking about enough
02:20because the sheer panic
02:24that each Spartan had to go through tonight was a lot.
02:31I don't want people to become desensitized to this
02:35because it is very real.
02:37And I have spent so much time thinking
02:39about when this is going to happen to me.
02:42So before I see any tweets
02:44from politicians saying thoughts and prayers,
02:47just stop right there because I don't want to hear it.
02:52I'm done.
02:54Your words don't mean unless you do something about this.
02:58As a current nursing student,
03:02I will continue to fight for gun control.
03:07When I think about my future as a nurse,
03:11I just really,
03:16really am terrified at the thought
03:19that I will have patients
03:23who will have been victims of mass shootings.
03:28They can be prevented.
03:29We can save future lives by making a change.
03:34I do not understand the people
03:36that are pushing against stopping this stuff from happening.
03:41Like if they would just help us prevent it,
03:44this wouldn't be happening.
03:46But they do literally everything in their power
03:50to not do anything about it.
03:51Do better, GOP.
03:53I am sick of this.
03:54I am tired.
03:55Gun control right now, right now.
03:59My story and my friends' and my roommate's stories
04:01are only a couple of thousands
04:04that were affected by what happened last night.
04:06But I think I can speak for most of us
04:08when I say we don't want your thoughts and your prayers.
04:12We want to mourn who we lost.
04:16And we want things to change.
