Could legal documents like birth certificates and passports be made safer?

This advocate of blockchain technology seems to think so.

00:22My dad was born in a very poor part of India and the hospital that he was born in doesn't
00:28exist today and so he wasn't able to get his birth certificate and that's why he wasn't
00:33able to get residency in Singapore.
00:36And at the time I was really pissed off about that because my dad had been in Singapore
00:40for 10 years, he couldn't get residency and that's where I connected blockchain to a real
00:46use case and I was like, this is so messed up.
