Transcript
00:00Former President Donald Trump has pleaded not guilty to the federal charges related to his alleged
00:05mishandling of the classified documents found at his Mar-a-Lago estate.
00:09At his arraignment in Miami on Tuesday, his lawyers asked for a jury trial.
00:13Before the arraignment, Trump was booked, processed, and fingerprinted,
00:17though he did not have a mugshot taken since he's widely recognizable.
00:21His aide, Walt Nata, who is a co-defendant, was also booked.
00:25This is Trump's second indictment and the first time a former president has faced federal charges.
00:30The indictment shows he's being indicted for 37 counts, including 31 counts of willful
00:34retention of national defense information, charges which stem from the Espionage Act.
00:39The indictment also displays Trump's knowledge that some documents were classified and alleges
00:44that he told a staffer, quote, as president, I could have declassified it. Now I can't,
00:49you know, but this is still a secret. Images also show how the documents were
00:54stored and moved around Mar-a-Lago. They were seen in the ballroom, bathroom, and storage room.
00:59There's also a picture of a box that had tipped over with documents splayed out on the floor.
