00:29It wouldn't set a national requirement that states legalize same-sex marriage,
00:33but it would require all states to recognize legal marriages from other states for purposes
00:38such as Medicare and Social Security. The bill is drawing support from unlikely places,
00:43including the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which has historically
00:46been anti-LGBTQ+. A total of 37 Senators voted against the bill, including Sen. Mitch McConnell,
00:53Sen. Marco Rubio, and Sen. Lindsey Graham.
