00:00This man was arrested after applying to be a hitman on a parody website.
00:04Josiah Garcia, a 21-year-old Air National Guardsman, sent in an application to rentahitman.com.
00:11Unbeknownst to him, however, the fake site turned over his very real application to become a contract killer to the FBI.
00:19After he initially submitted his application, Garcia allegedly continued to inquire about potential job opportunities and even sent additional
00:27identification documents along with his resume, which stated he was nicknamed Reaper due to his military marksmanship skills.
00:34After he began communicating with an undercover FBI agent, Garcia agreed to a murder-for-hire for $5,000.
00:40Garcia then met with the FBI agent to receive a down payment and information about the made-up target.
00:45Shortly after, the 21-year-old was arrested and learned of the operation. A press release from the FBI
00:51indicates that Garcia was in search of a job to provide for his family.
00:54The website rentahitman.com was initially created for a cybersecurity startup in 2005,
01:00but ultimately turned into a parody page that includes fake testimonials, a company commercial, and even merchandise.
01:07Garcia has been charged with use of interstate facilities and the commission of a murder-for-hire and, if convicted, could face up to 10 years in prison.
