Woman wakes up to a Canadian goose laying eggs on her porch — and keeps her fed and safe until the eggs hatch, despite her constant hissing! Kelly told us what it was like to see a little beak pop out of an egg and watch the goose family (Dad included!) leave her home and walk all the way to a local pond

00:00I go to my window and I see her sitting on five eggs.
00:06Everything started a week before.
00:09I look down and I see one egg that was the size of my palm.
00:14The next day, I see more eggs.
00:18After the first week, she was there full time.
00:22Oh, here's Papa.
00:26It was an overwhelming excitement, but also panic.
00:30I didn't want to tamper with her process,
00:33but there was a lot of emotion every time I went to work.
00:38She would hiss at me.
00:41I started researching because I didn't know what the next steps were.
00:55But I was like, I have to do something so that way she can feel more secured.
01:06Once we put the barrier up, it was pretty calm from that point forward.
01:20I would feed her bird seed and then I would put water out for her.
01:25I put a camera on her to make sure nobody came to tamper with a nest or the eggs.
01:31No babies yet.
01:36I definitely had a relationship with her.
01:38I think she knew that I was there to help her out through the process.
01:44The day came and I see a little tiny beak coming out of the egg.
01:48I'm like, it's happening.
01:52When all five of them hatched, I was really, really happy.
01:55Oh, look at them.
01:59My heart was so full.
02:01Looking up at his dad.
02:05Right when they got out of the eggs, they were up and going.
02:08Like there was no slowing them down.
02:17I watched them walk down to the pond.
02:21I did go and I made sure that they were still safe.
02:29It was such a beautiful experience.
02:36They are amazing creatures and they are very sweet if you do not bug them.
02:44What I would add is that because they have such a bad rap,
02:49just to be patient with these wild animals, they're protected for a reason.
02:54They are still just following their instincts and they need the grace that we have as humans being in their territory.
03:04It was beautiful. I had a good time.
