00:00Hi, I'm digital reporter Amy Seddon and welcome to another edition of Five Things to Do Next
00:07Week.
00:08First up, in central Lancashire, it's the Leyland Christmas Light Switch-On on Saturday
00:13November 30th. Taking place on Hough Lane, Leyland will welcome Coronation Street and
00:19Benidorm star Tony Maudsley, along with Nathan Moore of Brother Beyond, to do the honours
00:24of turning the Christmas lights on. The event starts at 12 noon with market stalls, children's
00:30attractions, a children's treasure tale, street food, live music and entertainment
00:36on stage from 3pm, followed by the main event taking place at 5.30pm. The event is free
00:42to attend.
00:43Over on the Fylde Coast, Fleetwood's annual Lantern Parade and Light Switch-On takes place
00:49on Saturday November 30th. The parade sets off from Fisherman's Walk at 4.30pm and makes
00:56its way down Lord Street and North Albert Street, onto the prom and then the Marine
01:00Gardens. There will then be a Christmas concert featuring Wacome Prime School Choir, Fleetwood
01:06Royalettes, Morris Dancers, young singer Lucas Williams and Fleetwood band The Jacks. DJ
01:13Dave Scrivener will also be the MC for the evening. The Switch-On itself takes place
01:18at approximately 5.40pm. The event is also free to attend.
01:23Up in Lancaster, Friday November 29th sees the first showing of the family panto, Dick
01:30Whittington and his cat. Presented by Lancaster Footlights, the panto follows Dick and his
01:35feline confidant as, guided by a fairy, they embark on a nautical adventure. Friday's show
01:42is called a relaxed performance, which is for adults and children with additional needs,
01:46where the standard performances run from Saturday November 30th to Saturday December 7th. Standard
01:52tickets cost £12.50 for adults and £11.50 for children and concessions, whilst tickets for the
01:58relaxed performance are £6. Over in East Lancashire, the Spermdale Ballet star Martin
02:05Kemp will headline the free to attend Amazing Atherton Christmas Extravaganza on Thursday
02:10November 28th. On between 4pm and 10pm, expect an incredible evening of entertainment for all
02:17the family to enjoy in Akerton Town Centre. Taken to the stage at 7pm, Martin will both
02:24sing and perform a DJ set as part of his extremely popular Back to the 80s show. Performances will
02:30also come from school children across Hindburne, fire-breathers, a choir, drummers and an ABBA
02:36tribute band. Finally, just outside of Lancashire, the Standish Christmas Market returns on Saturday
02:43November 30th. Taking place on Standish Marketplace in Wigan, the event runs between 10am and 4pm.
02:51Attendees can expect to see a festive street market featuring over 60 stalls, four craft halls,
02:57a refreshment tent, two live music stages and plenty of kids entertainment across the village.
03:03It is of course free to wander around the Standish Christmas Market
03:06but be prepared to reach into your pockets for the many treats on display.
